Tsumburbura; The Presence The overriding drive of evil ©Isyaku Umaru - February, 2002 On the Hypotenuse From 8 to 6 I get up to weave All that I know and strive to achieve This life, made of highs and lows Nemesis, they say, catches the lazy and the comatose As I raised the morsel of food at the so-called break I made contact with the depraved, the desperate, the hungry They had instituted with a vote to be saved Alas, they know nothing yet; paradise missed; dreams dashed Musings of a General, in the general direction of traffic Roads so wide, only wider, yet smaller The comfort of life, a family and ability to provide Preoccupation of homo sapien since creation And homo erectus before him A utopia of ideas, a clash in action "Oga now na 180 naira, na dey new prise, I beg no vex" I had it for 100 in my last dream 100, 120, 180, 300, 900, 2001, Y2K You just have to be able to see the blessings We haven’t yet had the potential tsunami producer Nor technology turned awry, dire consequences forgotten What is in all this for me? Where is my next meal coming from? Don’t ever stop on the road Or you will have to carry the load An escape back to my cocoon or is it house? I then have the luxury to wonder, could this be the hypotenuse? ©Isyaku Umaru - June, 2001 + add your comment and or submit your poem here |
