Assalamu Alaikum

Sir-Bash wannan post dinnaka lallai yanada ban dariya.
I particularly liked the notion of a pregnant woman sending an e amil to her unborn child. What I would also want know is that can he reply? we all know that's possible especially if the contents of the e mail are not favourable (by kicking and distressing the mother).
I would consider my self lucky if I was told by my dad that " You were downloaded from the internet" because it will bolster my case of being a tech warrior.

Nasan I am not welcome here but I shall proceed anyway.
There is perfectly no harm in a GIrl asking a Man out or Vice versa IF and ONLY IF they are doing nothing that contravenes the Law of Morality- IE their religions.
I doubt if not all marriages do not start in a way similar to this.
I for one will not ask a Girl out. They are too cheap...........
That all for now.

« on: November 20, 2002, 08:08:54 PM »
? ? ? ?Mallam Waziri Bravo! You see the problem with you is that you have no problem. That is you are indeed overtly decent and timely.
Having said that, it is important to note that women are of different kinds and their generalization, based on any yardstick, is bound to fail. True the prophet praised women for their companionship, patience, perseverance...... but, the fact is Islam also placed alot of restriction on them ( at least more than of men) because of their " unsophisticated mental faculty" . Scientifically, One may argued that men and women are equal save for anatomical differences, but nothing could further than the truth. It is a fact that the female's left part of the brain is more active and that can explain alot of what we do not know. This should not suggest the inferiority of women to men, it could be the converse but highly unlikely. Ever wondered why 90% of Nobel winners are male? just a gist but anyway, Women are indeed blessed people and without them ...... well there wouldnt be US.
I believe the Prophet on his last sermon did address the issue of equality and rights of women, and since the bulk of us in this forum subscribe to the Islamic religion, we have to abide by those sayings.
To cap it all, shying away from our difficulties add more to our suffering than it solves it, because false consciousness, as Max led others to believe, is an ugly and potentially disastarous notion. So, as Muslims, we need to deal with these problem by realizing Women are same as Men in most respect.
After all, who counselled prophet Muhammad when he came back from Gaar Hira afraid of what he experienced?............ Khadijat of course. May her soul and that of all other deceased Muslims rest in peace. Ameen
And Allah knows best.

I have this gut feeling the FDQ is a social outcast. All her post(assuming she is not of masculine gender) have pessimist tone.
This inclusive. Noting the negetive nature of your posts, FDQ, should not in any way be constued as being anti-FDQ-propaganda or tsana.
Just a facT.
That said, what you pointed out holds some truth, although NOrthern does not amount to Muslim who, basically in my realm of thinking, i believe are a bit more modest. MOdesty also does not amount to honesty in relationships and as such only sincerety matters
By the way, I admire your Internet Language skills.
Keep up the good work

I think the 'kunyar dan fari' is something thats hard to explain. I know a woman very intelligent and versed in the islamic knowledge yet, she never calls her first born by his first name even though the guy is some 20 years old. She calls him 'wane' and everyone understand.
Personally, my grand ma does thesame with her first child abdullah whom she calls 'wanel llah' apparently in contarvention of the meaning of that attribute of Allah.
I believe its something cultural and since it does not involve bidi'a- its innocuous.
Thanks FDQ for redirecting our attention to some common practices often overlooked because of their simplicity.
Bye.

« on: February 23, 2003, 01:58:21 AM »
OK i am new here but just a little analysis
Do you realize that all but a few of this words have one thing or the other to do with youths trying to impress ? and about the hausa slangs, they are but silly ways of saying some thing very easy.
On the other hand, it shows us the evolution of culture because this slangs were peculiar to the Afro-Americans and other subjugated sections of the society.

Sorry to chip in but what exactly does "MHM" stands for. I appologize for my ignorance on this matter, because i personally think particle physics not poetry makes a better past time. Any way, mallam Waziri nasan our paths have crossed before and I admire your eloquence but it appears to me kamar kafara baude wa.
I mean........ well da dai kafi serious amma yanzu.......... bansani ba.
Enough said, I do like to know what you make of Classical music which happens to be the favourite hobby of philosophers, royals and perhaps commoners of Shakespearean Era.This does have a correlation with what you are talking about huh?
As I said earlier I have no idea what you're talking about but, shis'shi gi ne ya kawoni.
I hope Iam welcome

Salams

Mallam Waziri with a little bit of background music, your poem can easily be converted into a song (A chart bursting song perhaps). what about making the poems here public? you know professional actors making the poems sound more.......poetic and business oriented.

Keep it up.

Doh! Ummita there may several reasons why you have not noticed tashe in your brief stay in Kano. This may include
- you did not live in Kano during Ramadan
- you lived outside the city gates in middle income areas or
- you dont really understand what tashe is.
Ba zai taba yiwu wa ba ace some one lives in KANO amma bai taba gani tashe ba. Iam sure you did not reside in " Chediyar yan gurasa, durumin zungura, Mar mara or Kul kul." For every one there knows of tashe.
Any way, Admin did provide links to sites where you can access more info on tashe. The link is Dandali.com.
I, for one, will continue to sing............. Kan jaki da dadi, Machukule!

Ahhhh, Mallam Salisu thanks for pointing out those websites. Duk dayake cewa nariga nasan wadannan websites din, Ina son mu dan tattauna game da tashe ne saboda, people are starting to post topics that have little or no relevance with regards to why this forum was created.
Any way, Ummita and FDQ, Tashe wani wasannin gargajiya ne wanda ake fara idan azumi na goma ya zo. "Ie goma ta wuya" Kamar yadda malam salisu ya rubuta, anayin wakoki kamar, Jatau mai magani, Machukule and dan dukununu to amuse people who in turn "pay" the "clowns" for their show.
I personally would publish a collection of tashe in my College Newspaper so as to give them a flavour of what its like to be a Muslim in kasar hausa durin tashe.
As always, thanks for browsing thru this post.

Culture / Cika-Ciki
« on: March 09, 2003, 01:51:26 AM »
Assalamu Alaikum
I am really a bit confused why the forum is getting more flared up with politics. That is why I am posting this.
Bansan ko mutane are familiar with Cika ciki ba.
Cika ciki is usually celebrated on Muharram (10th ?? not really sure what day. Anyone?).
( For those who do not understand Hausa, Cika Ciki roughly means "filing the stomach-with food"). People are supposed to eat to the brim and pray, although one could argue people nowadays eat only. Many people celebrate it differently. For example, in Kano, I notice they celebrate cika ciki by cooking jelar saniya and other ragadada, they stored from salah Babba.
In katsina, where food is not taken for granted, they eat tuwon ruwa after salar magarba and afterward finish it up with the much famed hura da nono.
In Bauchi, I learnt, people eat the famous food made in Bauchi- MASA. ?They eat masa with miyar taushe and tantakwashi and ofcourse, man shanu.
If you celebrate cika ciki or you know any delicious foods consumed during this holiday, please share it with us.
I for one would like to eat tuwon Bula this year.

Sports / Re: David Beckham
« on: April 06, 2003, 01:39:30 AM »
Beckham! The bloody Englishman. Beckham's popularity is hyped up by the media. yes he is good at spot kicks but does'nt he also have a knack at getting into fights ( against Diego Simeoni of Argentina in 1998. A match they lossed because of his girman kai).
the source of his acclaim are also questionable. All the websites listed are British, and what do you expect from the imperiaslists of football. The fact is, his predecessor at Old Trafford, Eric Cantona, is the best material that Man Utd has offered to the World. Beckham was lucky Man Utd had Giggs are Sheringham in 1999, otherwise they would not be the UEFA C lge champions.

!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Viva la espanol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
