As a western I am ashamed by the fact that my governmeents won't canel African Debts, I'm not boasting or anything but it's not like the government's of the western world need more money, they have enough of it, what they really need are some morales, if they were in a different situation they would change their minds fairly quickly, as a great author once said, "You can't judge a person until you have walked aroung in their shoes", so what right do the western governments to judge or decide what countries should stay stuck in debt, they supposedly want a democratic world but that will never happen until all voices and opinions are heard and more importantly listened to. They should cancel the debts, that way poorer countries and their populations could get on with their own lives and cultures, it's only fair.

General Board / Re: Polio Vaccine
« on: March 24, 2004, 06:51:41 PM »
I can't beleive that somebody wouldn't be allowed to protect and vaccinate their child against a terrible disease such as polio. There are no major links between infertility and the vaccine so really they have no justification to stop this, it is in a sense a violation of human rights, every body has the right to make their own decisions when it comes to health. They should allow the people who want to get , to get it and the people who don't want to get it needn't get it. If only they could see what they are doing, it's a disease that can be wiped out with the help of this vaccanation. I live in Ireland where this type of vaccanation is more or less forced upon you and there hasn't been one case of polio over here for many years,I think if they look at the facts they will see it's a good thing and hopefully they will change their minds and allow it to be administered.

I am not a british citizen, I hail from the republic of Ireland and hopefully would like to get my grandfather buried at home next to his grandmothers grave, I'll try them anyway and see if they'll be willing to help me. Thanks for all the help , I really appreciate it, I hope that that is my grandfathers tomb and that I can hopefully get it identified. Thanks a million,

My grandfather was killed in Kano in June of 1961 in an aircrash. His name was Thomas Pratt. Does anybody know where his grave is? He was buried near the crash site as far as I know and that was just about two miles outside Kano. If anyone knows of a grave near there please let me know, I have been looking for his grave for months and am not having any luck. Thanks everybody. ???

I am a young mother and my daughter is just getting to the age that discipline is going to become an issue. I don't agree with beating a child, especially a young child as they won't understand fully why you are beating them. In my opinion, a little slap on the hand whilst using a cross tone is one of the best ways of showing them that what they have done is bold. Every parent has their own way of disciplining their own children but I do believe that beating them is wrong but having said that if that was they way you were raised it might be the only way you know how to discipline your child.  :D
