General Board / Mallam Shekarau with foreign Accounts?
« on: September 29, 2006, 12:27:38 PM »
I Just came across the write-up and decided to share it with kanoonlinners, though its a bit bulky but its worth reading. Is it believable?

The Story of Shekarau?s Foreign Accounts

By
Jaafar Jaafar
jafsmohd@yahoo.com

For Mallam Nuhu Ribadu, the bold but basket-mouth chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, it poured. And when it poured or spilt, hardly one can recoup the exact quantity before it spilt. It could only be moped up and left the remnant to soak. Its, in a similar vein, akin to releasing a mouse in bales of hay. Those that cannot be recouped, though seen, are those who Nigerians called sacred cows. Ribadu?s shoulder is laden enough with allegations and counter allegations that he could only act on a whim. Nigerians may have been happy that stratocracy or military government had withered with all its overhanging branches and leaves, to wit ? corruption, impunity and obnoxious laws. But all these, to our downright chagrin, are still the features of our modern-day democracy. The cases of corruption have, like mushrooms, sprung in a different shapes and styles. Impunity and flagrant abuse of the court orders by the executive and some sacred cows are the order of the day. Anti-people laws have several times gained passage through our legislative chambers while good laws are dumped into the bin of materialism. Such is our democracy.

This writer is one the supporters of any move of the Federal Government to put a knife through the underbelly of this monster that has, as we suppose, plagued our development. I support Obasanjo?s crusade (with the obvious selective derring-do of Ribadu though) because there is no false accusation. The restitution of the billions stolen by Nigerian fraudsters and leaders to the original owners is, to any impartial commentator, commendable. Yet, in the interest of fairness, we must totally condemn the lackadaisical manner in which they handle other cases involving those who are in the good books of the president and others who, according to the perception of others, bribe some EFCC officials to evade humiliation.

The EFCC Act 2004 and Money Laundering (prohibition) Act 2004, give powers to this commission to fight financial crimes committed by all Nigerians, including the occupants of the public office. The Nigerian Financial Intelligence Unit, NFIU (the local branch of the Financial Intelligence Unit, FIU) now dons the famous but dreaded attire called EFCC. And being a brainchild of the Financial Action Task-Force (FATC), a Paris-based institution of the G8 with the responsibility of fighting drug and financial crimes around the world, coupled with the active support of the United States, this commission (EFCC) is expected to copy the zeal, impartiality and passion with which the Western countries fight corruption. But certain forces, however, dog the passion and zeal of the commission.

The rumour that is now circulating around the town is that Kano State governor, Malam Ibrahim Shekarau; Abdullahi Sani Rogo, former commissioner for local governments (now adviser to the governor) and; Garba Yusuf, the present Commissioner for Environment (who were interrogated alongside their principal by the EFCC with respect to their alleged foreign accounts) have bribed the EFCC officials to avoid humiliation. The allegation against them, if found to be true, is quite unfortunate and a clear violation of Section 3 of the Fifth Schedule, Part 1 of the Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria that states clearly: ?The President, Vice President, Governor, Deputy Governor, Ministers of the government of the federation, and Commissioners of government of the States, members of the National Assembly and Houses of Assembly of the states and such other public officers or persons as the National Assembly may by law prescribe, shall not maintain or operate a bank account in any country outside Nigeria.?

It will amaze Kano people (the small group who are still under the spell of a phenomenon called Shekarau would be more surprised) to know that one M.I. Shekarau, a Nigerian (could it be our governor?), has a classified National Westminster Bank Plc., account with a whopping deposit of ?4,512,269.59 with the account number: 4113242. National Westminster Bank Plc is at Level 7 Phase 2, Rentioville Road, London, N1 9h1, England.

The same masquerade who calls himself M.I Shekarau also operates a classified account at National Commercial Bank Plc., Head office Jeddah, Saudi Arabia with the equally whopping deposit of 2,214,905.67 Riyals. The account number is 9600438 and National Commercial Bank is located at Jeddah 21481, Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

Relatively speaking, other deposits belonging to one Mr S. A. Rogo and one G. A. Yusuf are ?paltry.? The classified account deposit belonging to Mr S. A. Rogo has 9,336,00 DM with the account number: 35000861 and the code number is 51130006. The bank?s address is TAUNUSANILAGE 12, D ? 60325, Frankfurt, AM Main Germany. This same bank has another deposit of ?5,428.00 belonging to one G. A. Yusuf with the account number: 343356 and a code number: 61240053. The same G. A. Yusuf has a deposit of 9,428.00 DM at Deutsche Bank A.G., Heidenhern, Germany. The account number is 2125356 and the bank code is 61370086.

Could all these allegations be coincidence? Could the initials: M. I. Shekarau be our very own Malam Ibrahim Shekarau? Could it be a fabrication of some ?contending forces? (who are rich enough to deposit more than N1bn in the M. I. Shekarau?s accounts)? Could the initials G. A. Yusuf be Garba A. Yusuf, the State Commissioner for Environment and Abdullahi Sani Rogo, former Commissioner for Local Governments who recently suffered humiliations that led to his forced exit from the cabinet? The questions are left for EFCC to answer.

It is still unfathomable and beyond my wildest dreams that the governor?s aides, let alone Governor Shekarau would be enmeshed in any money laundering charge until recently when I came into possession of the aforesaid classified infosheet that shocked me so much that I almost drooled over it. Utterly perplexed, I complained to my source that the money is too much ? it is more than N1bn! How could he?? But the response of this notable proffered the suitable answer to my poser. ?Shekarau?s government so far receives more than N200 billion,? he quipped, ?so it is like an ordinary man losing N1 out of N200 ? would he have felt the pain?? No! So now the saint we knew in 2003 has joined the comity of other looters? If so, no thanks to the handiwork of absolute power, which as the famous aphorism says, corrupts absolutely. It is yet another broad moral question mark dangling not only on the governor, but also on the integrity of Kano people who are never known to be money launderers. How could we remember our governor in that stinking side of history? The side where we remember other leaders like Jean-Claude Duvalier, former president of Haiti; where we remember Mobutu Sese Seko, former president of Zaire; Ferdinand Marcos, former president of Philippines; Suharto, former Indonesian president; DSP Alamieseigha; ?M. I. Shekarau? (?) etc?

Sources close to intelligence circles say that when the governor was confronted with these allegations, the obviously terrified governor allegedly admitted that it is his signature but he is not the one who operates the accounts (? la President Obasanjo who claims that Ota Farms cheques are not signed by him despite the fact that his famous ?OO? signature always bore the cheques). In his characteristic manner of giving implausible pretext, Shekarau allegedly testified that it was Kwankwaso (his whipping boy) who deposited over four million pounds and over two million riyals into the accounts! To anybody who has had the privilege of successfully completing his primary school education, this is most ridiculous.  This came after spending three years mismanaging our resources, telling us lies, deceiving us, telling us they are saints, holier than thou and very transparent that a bottle of Highland Water is envious. These are the people who claim to have monopoly of piety, integrity and transparency above any other son of our blessed state. Abomination!

Meanwhile it is yet another burden on the EFCC?s shoulders, Kano people eagerly await their actions since they have not, perhaps, drawn a blank? Over to you Mallam Nuhu.

Islam / Is Islam Synonymous to violence?
« on: August 31, 2004, 05:21:50 PM »
Assalam Alaikum,

Let me start by asking another question, Does the periodic violence here and there in which Muslims are involved not reflect some Islamic teachings such as "Jihad"?

The basis for this kind of judgement would not be fair, whether applied to islam, christianity or any Religion. A way of life or religion is not to be judged by those of its followers who may disobey or be ignorant of its teachings. It should be judged by the actual teachings of its scriptures. It is therefore more reasonable to assess Islam by the teachings of the Qur'an and the sayings and deeds of the Prophet Muhammad(pbuh).

The Same principle should be used in evaluating any religion. Otherwise, Christians for example fought each other in the first World War (about 18 million people killed) and the second World War(about 32 million killed). They also carried out the nuclear bombing of Hiroshima and Nagasaki killing thousands of innocent civilians. For centuries they organised the Crusades, the trans-Atlantic Slave Trade from Africa to America, the colonization and the exploitation of African and Asian countries and the genocide of the native Americans and Australians. In our own time we have witnessed bombing and killing between Catholics and Protestants in Northern Ireland, the Mafia criminal organisations of italy and America, the columbia drug wars, the "ethnic cleansing", murder and rape of the Bosnian Muslims. Christians are also involved in the ever-growing crime and violence in parts of the world with christian majoriities such as America, Europe and even Parts of Africa. Would we be right to conclude that this violence by some christians is a reflection of some of the teachings of Christianity? Christians would certainly find that unfair, even if the perpetrators of some of these actions claimed to act in the name of Christ. Also, Would it be a fair Judgement if we refer to all Christains as Homosexuals and lesbians considering the fact that there are some churches that register such marriages? Certainly thats wouldn't be a fair judgement because we all know the bible does not allow that.

As with any other religion or way of life therefore, ISLAM IS NOT TO BE JUDGED BY WHAT SOME SO-CALLED MUSLIMS DO, WHEN IT IS CLEAR THEY ARE GOING AGAINST THE TEACHINGS OF ISLAM.
The qur'an teaches: "invite all to the way of your lord with wisdom and beautiful preaching"(Qur. 16:125) Islam therefore does not teach violence.

But what about Jihad? Let me add to what my fellow kanoonliners wrote, firstly, let us understand the meaning of the Arabic word "Jihad" in the islamic context. Jihad on its own simply means Struggle, to exert effort or to strive. Jihad in islam basically refers to the unceasing effort an individual must make towards self-improvement and self-purification. It also refers to the duty of Muslims both at the individual and collective level to struggle against all forms of evil, corruption, injustice, tyranny and oppression, whether this injustice is commited against Muslims or non-Muslims.

Muslims are not to commit aggression or to initiate violence."For God does not love the aggressors" (Qur.2:190). If however they are attacked, they have the right to resist and if necessary to fight to overthrow tyranny and oppression, so that people can live in freedom and with their basic human rights.

Some Christians believe in pacifism, that is, non-resistance to aggression, but the mainstream of Christianity has always upheld the right of self-defence and concept of a "Just war", which is why the christian churches train and post Chaplains to the armed forces.
There is therefore agreement in principle between Christianity and Islam on the need to resist evil and agression. IF IT COMES TO THE ACTUAL TRACK RECORD OF THE OPPRESSION AND VIOLENCE COMMITTED BY SO-CALLED CHRISTIANS AND SO-CALLED MUSLIMS, THE ACTION OF SO-CALLED CHRISTIANS AND OTHER NONE MUSLIMS AS LISTED ABOVE OVER THE PAST 1,OOO YEARS INDICATE A FAR WORSE RECORD OF AGGRESSION THAN ANYTHING DONE BY SO-CALLED MUSLIMS. WHAT I DON'T UNDERSTAND IS THE CONTINUOS MENSIONING OF ISLAM AND MUSLIMS WHENEVER VIOLENT RELATED THREAD IS BEEN DISCUSSED HERE. I WILL BE HAPPY IF SOMEONE CAN PROVIDE ME WITH THE REASON.
LET ME CATEGORICALLY STATED THAT, LET US BE FAIR AND JUDGE A RELIGION BY ITS TEACHINGS AND NOT BY THE BEHAVIOUR OF HUMAN BEINGS WHOSE ACTIONS ARE IN DEFIANCE OR IGNORANCE OF THE RELIGION THEY CLAIM TO FOLLOW.

Dear muslim reader, please read widely and indepth about your religion, and do not let people to exploit your ignorance about the truth of islam. Remember, if due to your laziness to seek and know the truth you get misguided, then you deserve it. May Allah continue to guide us along his straight path.

As-salamu alaikum- peace be on to you, as prophet Isa (alaihissalam) greets his desciples and recommended them to say whenever they enter a house or meet someone ( see Luke 10:5 and John 20:26). (Suprisingly) A typical of way of how muslims greet each other.

Islam / SHARIAH IN THE BIBLE
« on: May 24, 2003, 08:35:07 AM »
?In fact my interest in writing about this topic became necessary as a result of some misconceptions about muslim's ways of life, resulting in castigation, denunciations and negative propagander against shariah and muslims.

Ever since Governor Ahmad Sani of Zamfara state annouced the intention to introduce Shariah legal system (criminal aspect) ,the media and christians did not also help matters with their negative reports and labelling of anything islamic.

WHAT SHARIAH IS

shariah means path to take or to follow.By the Shariah of God is meant that everything is legislated by Allah for ordering man's life,it includes the principles of believe,Administration, justice,Morality,Human relations and principles of life.

SHARIAH'S OBJECTIVES

To cater for interest of people, relieve them from hardships,to promote their welfare to safe guard their faith, intellect, mercy, posterity and their prosperity.Infact shariah is all about justice, mercy and wisdom. Therefore anything that departs from justice to oppression, from mercy to harshness, from welfare to misery, from wisdom to folly, has nothing to do with shariah.

COMPARATIVE ANALYSIS

The christians and their media systems accuse shariah of wickedness, barbarism, brutality, etc. They might as well be condenming their God,His laws and percepts, albeit unknowingly.let us examine some examples.

MURDER CASE

Qur'an[ 2:178] prescribes life for life, but if victims relations so desire, they may collect compensation and allow the murderer to live.
The bible says "THOU SHALL NOT KILL" Exodus [20:13].But what about the punishment for those who violet this commandment?the bible says:
THOSE WHO STRIKES A MAN SO THAT HE DIES SHALL BE PUT TO DEATH [Exodus 21:12]
"YOUR LIFE SHALL NOT PITY,IT SHALL BE LIFE FOR LIFE,EYE FOR EYE,TOOTH FOR TOOTH,HAND FOR HAND,FOOT FOR FOOT"[Deutreronomy 19:21]

But a christian will say these are laws of Moses in the old testament in contradistinction to the law of love preached by Jesus in the new testament. We ask the question:Who is the God of the old and new testament? Is it one and the same God or are they two different Gods?Or does the God of the old testament chage his mind in the new testament?christians should provide answers. But the Bible says:

"AND YOU ARE TO TEACH THE PEOPLE OF ISRAEL ALL THE STATUTES (LAWS) WHICH THE LORD HAS SPOKEN TO THEM BY MOSES"[Leviticus 10:11]

"IT IS A STATUTE (LAW) FOR EVER THROUGH OUT YOUR GENERATIONS"[Leviticus 23:41]

"SO YOU SHALL REMEMBER AND DO ALL MY COMMANDMENTS,AND BE HOLY TO YOUR GOD"[Numbers15:40]

But"IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL TO DO ALL THE WORDS OF THIS LAW WHICH ARE WRITTEN IN THIS BOOK...THEN THE LORD WILL BRING ON YOU AND YOUR OFFSRING,EXTRAORDINARY AFFLICTIONS SEVERE AND LASTING,AND SICKNESS GRIEVIOUS AND LASTING"[Deutronomy 28:58,59].

Christians should remember what God says in Malachi 3:6
"FOR I THE LORD DO NOT CHANGE"

Because the laws in the old testament were still effective during Jesus time,he said:

THINK NOT THAT I HAVE COME TO ABOLISH THE LAW AND PROPHET,I HAVE COME NOT TO ABOLISH THEM BUT TO FULFIL THEM.FOR TRULY,I SAY TO YOU,TILL HEAVEN AND EARTH ?PASS AWAY,NOT AN IOTA NOT A DOT,WILL PASS FROM THE LAW UNTIL ALL IS ACCOMPLISHED.WHOEVER THEN RELAXES ONE OF THE LEAST OF THESE COMMANDMENTS AND TEACHES MEN SO,SHALL BE LEAST IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN,BUT HE WHO DOES THEM AND TEACHES THEM SHALL BE CALLED GREAT IN THE KINGDOM OF HEAVEN[Mathew 5:17-19].

THEFT CASE:

The Qur'an says:
AS TO THE THIEF MALE OR FEMALE,CUT OFF HIS OR HER HANDS,A RETRIBUTION FOR THEIR DEED AND EXEMPLARY PUNISHMENT FROM ALLAH...
BUT IF THE THIEF REPENTS AFTER HIS CRIME AND AMEND HIS CONDUCT,ALLAH TURNETH TO HIM IN FOREGIVENESS,FOR ALLAH IS OFT-FORGIVING,MOST MERCIFUL[Qur'an 5:38,39]

However the Bible prescribes that:
IF A MAN STEALS...HE SHALL BE MAKE RESTITUTION,IF HE HAS NOTHING,HE SHALL BE SOLD FOR HIS THEFT (IN TO SLAVERY) [Exodus 22:1-3]

WOE TO THE WORLD FOR TEMPTATION TO SIN.FOR IT IS NECESSARY THAT TEMPTATION COME,BUT WOE TO THE MAN BY WHOM TEMPTATION COMES.IF YOUR HAND OR FOOT CAUSES YOU TO SIN,CUT IT OFF AND THROW IT AWAY,IT IS BETTER FOR YOU TO ENTER LIFE MAIMED OR LAMED THAN WITH TWO HANDS OR TWO FEETS TO BE THROWN IN TO THE FIRE. AND IF YOUR EYE CAUSES YOU TO SIN,PLUCK IT OUT THROW IT AWAY.[Mathew 18:7-9]

ADULTERY AND FORNICATION

Shariah prescribes that fornicators be given hundred strokes of the cane and adulterers and adulteresses should be stoned to death.[Qur'an 24:2 and sahihal bukhari vol 8/6814] in the case of fornicators and adulterers respectively.
The Bible says:

"YOU SHALL NOT COMMIT ADULTERY"[Exodus 20:14] AND IF A MAN SEDUCES A VIRGIN...AND LIES WITH HER HE SHALL MAKE HER HIS WIFE[Exodus 22:16]
And "IF A MAN COMMITS ADULTERY WITH THE WIFE OF HIS NEIGHBOUR,BOTH THE ADULTERER AND THE ADULTERESS SHALL BE PUT TO DEATH.THE MAN WHO LIES WITH HIS FATHER'S WIFE HAS UNCOVERED HIS FATHER'S NAKEDNESS,BOTH OF THEM SHALL BE PUT TO DEATH... IF A MAN LIES WITH HIS DAUTHER-IN-LAW,BOTH OF THEM SHALL BE PUT TO DEATH...IF A MAN LIES WITH A MALE AS WITH A WOMAN [i.e Homosexuality]...THEY SHALL BE PUT TO DEATH. [Leviticus 20:10-13]

USURY

Shariah prohibits usury in a very strong terms[see Qur'an 2:275-281].The Bible also says"YOU SHALL NOT LEND YOUR MONEY AT INTEREST"

PROPER DRESS CODE (VEIL OR HIJAB)

What the Qur'an says will be found in chapter 24:31 and chapter 33:59.
The bible also prescribes modest and sensible apperel and befit women who profess religion [1 Timothy 2:9,10]
The Bible also says:

"FOR IF A WOMAN WILL NOT VEIL HERSELF,THEN SHE SHOULD CUT OF HER HAIR,BUT IF IT IS DISGRACEFUL FOR A WOMAN TO BE SHORN OR SHAVEN,LET HER WEAR A VEIL...THAT IS ?WHY ?A WOMAN OUGHT TO HAVE A VEIL ON HER HEAD,BECAUSE OF THE ANGELS."[1 Corinthians 11:6 and 10]

The Bible also prescribes that women should keep silent in the church, that it is a shameful thing for a woman to speak in the church, that even if she had any question, her husband should ask on her behalf.(1 Conrintians 14:34,35).
But what happens now adays you ?even see pastors that are women.

From the fore going,we see that true christians ought to support Shariah rather than stigmatising and opposing it to the extend of fighting and killing their fellow humanbeings.
Infact, they are suppose to clamour for the implementation of their on version of Shariah which is more sensible. However,Shariah is for those who truly and sincerely serve and worship God.

Maassalam.

Islam / Who is Jesus?
« on: March 01, 2004, 05:28:16 AM »
Assalamualaikum to my muslim brothers, sisters and to my non muslim freinds, compliment of the day.

Let me start by apologising for missing in action, this is due to the fact that am now somewhere pursuing my masters degree which am finding it extremely difficult combining the two...even now i had to squeeze and post in some few lines. ?Hope you guys will forgive me.

Secondly, Am really sorry for what am going to write, Muslims are not against the teachings of Jesus christ, infact believing in Jesus and his teachings is one of the pillars of islam, hope my christian freinds will understand and reason with me.

The above question (who is jesus) may be simple but if one ask christians of different denominations, he will be amazed to hear different answers, some believe Jesus is God, some believe he is the only begotten son of God while others believe that he is one of the trian God (Waiyyazhubillah).

The answer to this question have been provided in the Holy qur'an and the bible. I am starting by quoting a single verse from the holy qur'an and compare it with what the bible is saying about the true personality of jesus christ.

?O people of the scripture( christians)! do not exceed the limits in your religion, nor say Allah aught but the truth. The messiah Isa (Jesus), son of Mary, was a messenger of Allah and his word, which he bestowed on Mary and a spirit created by him, so believe in Allah and his messengers. Say not: Three (trinity) cease it is better for you. For Allah is only one, glory be to him above having a son. To him belongs all that is in the heavens and all that is in the earth. and Allah is all sufficient as a disposer of affairs. Q 4 vs 171.

Let us now read what the bible is saying.

1.This is the way to have eternal life - to know you, the only true God and Jesus christ the one you sent to earth.
(john 17:3)

2. Jesus said of my own self, i can do nothing as i hear i judged and my judgement is just because i do not seek my will but the will of the one that sent me. (john 5:30)

3. For i have come down from heaven to do the will of God who sent me, not to do what i want. (john 6:38).

The first question i want to ask here is that, can God sent another God?

From the above verses, it is indiputable ?biblically and qur'anically that Jesus christ was a prophet and a messenger who was sent by God.

Some christians believe in jesus as God because of the miracles he performed forgetting that Elisha also performed miracles as stated in the following verses.

1. Then Elisha prayed, o lord, open his eyes and let him see! the lord open his servant's eyes and when he looked up, he saw that hillside around Elisha was filled with horses and chariots of fire. (2 kings 6:17).

2. And he (Elisha) stretched himself out overthe child three times and cried out to the lord my god, please let this child's life return to him, the lord heard Elijas prayer and the life of the child returned to him and he came back to life. (1 kings 17:21-22).

For more details about Elija's miracles see 2 kings 5:14 and 2 kings 42-44.

My dear freinds if performing miracles qualifies Jesus christ to be God then Elija too should be considered as God, since he performed almost all the miracles Jesus did.

Now, let us examine the verses in the bible which christians are basing their divinity of Jesus christ.

1. In the beginning, was the word and the word was with God and he was God. (John 1:1).

The above verse is neither coming from God nor Jesus, it is coming from John, the historiographer who was trying to explain his understanding of the relationship between Jesus and God, unfornately he contradicted the bible as pointed out in (John 17:3 and john 5:30). And if one examine the verse (john 1:1) he will understand that the word, with, is a conjunction, joining word and God.

The same Bible says in Isiah 44:6 and i quote, God says i am the first and the last, there is no any God besides me. (Isiah 44:6). If i may ask my dear freinds, which statement is more authentic? is it the one from God or the one from John?

Another verse which christian hold as an evidence of Jesus divinity is (John 10:30) which states and i quote

The father and i are one. (john 10:30)

I want to ask my christian freinds, in what context was Jesus saying they are one? there is still another verse in the bible where Jesus is saying and i quote

father is greater than i am (john 14:28).

Can any christian help me reconcial these two verses ( john 10:30 and john 14:28)? if at all christians are reasoning well, they wouldn't have been using John 10:30 in establishing the divinity of Jesus christ. If the oneness of jesus according to john 10:30 qualified him to be God, the same oneness would have qualified his disciples to be God, since as stated in the same john 17:21-23, and i quote, That they may be one as we are one, i in you, they in me that we may all denote one. (John 17:21-23)

Is jesus talking about oneness in knowledge, essence, or power? the answer is no!!! because he wouldn't have said in Mark 13:32 and i quote

However, no one knows the day or hour when these things will happen, not even the engels in heaven or son himself. Only the father knows. (Mark 13:32) and jesus says in (john 5:30) and i quote

I of my own self can do nothing (john 5:30). Again ?Mathew 19:26 says and i quote, With God all things are possible (mathew 19:26).

My freinds, if one scrutinise these verses, he doesn't have to be told that Jesus is not God.

Now to those who consider jesus as the only begotten son of God, they accept the word 'Son' literally, which is not so, because son of God signifies love and affection, nearness to God, which according to the bible, is not applied to jesus alone. We find such term used in reference to many others besides Jesus, examples are giving below.

1.Blessed are the peace-makers, for they shall be called the children of God. (Mathew 5:9)
2. For all who are led by the spirit of God, are sons of God.(Romans 8:14).
See also Genesis 6:1-2 and mathew 5:45. for more verses.

Moses told his people that, our lord is God and is alone. (Deutronomy 6:4). Jesus also said the lord our God is the one and only Lord. ( mark 12:29) and the prophet Muhammad (S.A.W) also said, He is Allah, the one, the self sufficient. Master, whom all cretures need, he begets not, nor was he begotten, and there is none co-equal or comparable unto him. (Qur'an 112:1-4).

Allah Subhanahu wata'ala is telling us and i quote.

We did not send any messenger before you, Oh muhammad (S.A.W) but we revealed to him saying none has the right to be worshipped but i (Allah) (Lailaha illa ana), so worship me (alone and none else). (qur'an 21:25).

(Qur'an 112:1-4)

My dear freinds, the truth is always obvious from the falsehood, so it is left for you to choose between the two. As i always say my doors are open for comments and observation cose am a human being destined to make mistakes.

General Board / Nigeria's Energy Crises
« on: July 03, 2003, 03:21:28 AM »
Assalamualaikum,
My write up may be bulky but please spare a little bit of your time to read through for meaningfull suggestions.

In the last decade,The nigerian governments has increased the prices of petroleum products several times,i think up to five times,in the name of removing subsidy and preventing smuggling of the products. On june 20th 2003,the ?democratically elected government of chief Obasanjo increased these products to more than 50%, the government said it was subsidizing local consumption to the tune of 250 billion naira annually,Mr president argued that the money could have been better used for more important developmental projects, that's why his government finds it necessary to deregulate the down stream sector of the petroleum industry,The only beneficiaries of the subsidy provided by the government, the president argued, are the rich who continues to get richer and not the masses.Within the said period, inflation is on the increase, virtually, the price of everything has skyrocketed-foodstuffs,transportation and other essential commodities.

In my opinion,Deregulation is not the answer,It is merciless to impose an increase in the prices of the petroleum products which is equivalent to increasing the prices of everything as i mentioned earlier. We all know the status of an average nigerian, according to a report recently released by the world bank, about 70% 0f nigerians are leaving below the poverty level -what a pity, eventhough Mr president has disagreed with the report to the extent of commiting about 200 million naira for verifying the report.Afterall,he has not tell us what he has done with the previous billions of naira from the subsidies he withdrew since 1999?How will he comvince us that the products will be available at the new rates. We all know what Abacha (R.I.P) did with the subsidy he withdrew from the petroleum products.

The major cause of this problem is the nonfunctioning of our refineries,as the sixth world producer of crude oil, sadly, nigeria is relying on the importation of the refined products, even with the importation the products are scarce, the government has refused to repair these refineries. They were pointing accusing fingers to Sani Abacha(R.I.P)that his family were obtaining profits from the business of importing the refined products that's why he neglected the refineries, now, five years after Abacha the refineries are still not working, they should tell us who the importers are and why they refused to put the refineries in order.
It is a pity that this government cannot curbe the activities of the smugglers, those smugglers,no doubt operate in collusion with NNPC and the registered petroleum marketers. It is the responsibility of any well meaning government to arrest such activities as smuggling,But this our government has already succumbed to the smugglers, which is a sign of incompetency.

We have suffered enough, the masses are already in muribund.I don't think removing subsidy at this time will solve the problem,i presume Mr president needs some more money for his globethrotting during his second tenure.(remember the most widely travelled president in the world?).Afterall, what are governments for? if they cannot subsidize petroleum products to it's masses.
What do you think is going to solve such a problem that has been lingering for decades?
