In the name of Allah, the Beneficent, the Merciful

Ibn Rajab recorded in his book Jami' Ulum wal Hikam:

Anas ibn Malik reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

None of you has faith until he loves for his brother or his neighbor what he loves for himself.

Source: Sahih Muslim 45, Grade: Muttafaqun Alayhi

The purpose is that it is among the obligatory characteristics of faith that a person loves for his believing brother what he loves for himself, and that he hates for him what he hates for himself. If part of that is missing from his faith, then his faith is deficient.

Abu Huraira reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Love for the people what you love for yourself and you will be a believer. Behave well with your neighbors and you will be a Muslim.

Mu'adh ibn Anas reported: He asked the Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, about virtuous faith. The Prophet said:

The most virtuous faith is to love for the sake of Allah, to hate for the sake of Allah, and to work your tongue in the remembrance of Allah.

Mu'adh said, "How is it, O Messenger of Allah?" The Prophet said:

That you love for the people what you love for yourself, and you hate for the people what you hate for yourself, and you speak goodness or remain silent.

Khalid ibn Abdullah reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said to his grandfather:

Do you love Paradise?

He said, "Yes." The Prophet said:

Then love for your brother what you love for yourself.

Source: Musnad Ahmad 16219, Grade: Sahih li ghayri

Abdullah ibn Amr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

Whoever would love to be delivered from the Hellfire and entered into Paradise, then let him die with faith in Allah and the Last Day, and let him treat the people the way he would love to be treated.

Source: Sahih Muslim 1844, Grade: Sahih

Abu Dharr reported: The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, said:

O Abu Dharr, verily, I see you as weak and I love for you what I love for myself. Do not command even two people and do not manage the property of an orphan.

Source: Sahih Muslim 1826, Grade: Sahih

Indeed, the Prophet only prohibited him from that because he viewed him as weak and he liked that for every weak person. He would only entrust with authority over people those whom Allah had given strength to do it. He would command them to call people to obedience for Allah and he would entrust them with managing the affairs of their religion and worldly life.
