Title: Where do you get your news?
Post by: sdanyaro on June 16, 2003, 10:05:17 PM
Assalamu alaikum;

I was just curious, where do you get the majority of your news. No limit to either local or computer news either. Whatever news you get, where do you find it?

Personally, I use BBC and VOA Hausa News, Google news... and Gamji

Haza wasalam

I got mine from the f***** up amurika media. You know its 0nly 1% true so I sometimes look up in local sites. Unfortunately this site Kanoonline.com is dead. No news nothing. I'm sorry but thats it. If you take out this forum, there is nothing to see except the governors dates. Lol

I still stand by my view that the site is 'dead' apart from the forum. What else does it provide, something close to nothing. Come on look it up and tell me what is latest apart from the addition of Shekarau as the governor. Most of the things were there for years and not updated and some are links so what is new?

I believe it could be inproved to serve the people more. I donno who is in charge of it but this is not an insult of any kind its just an opinion. Peace

Well most of it originated from word of mouth, then if interested try to read from a paper or listen to bbc or voa, most of the time the local radio only projected the govt image so there is nothing to listen to.

Thats a very nice observation Sanusi it's when u said it that i realized i've never noticed a change on the home page of konline (xcept 4 shekarau).i always go to the discussion forum straight and i suspect everybody does the same.Anyway for me to say that the site is dead is not appropriate so lang as the dicussion forum will be as lively as it is(or even livelier as it waz b4) then it will help keep the site alive and productive.
i hope the administrators have taken note..

Assalamu alaikum,
In the past i use to be an ardent listener of VOA and BBC Radio news but discovered that their news only make one confuesd every morning, they have been adding so much salt in the news.. especially when it comes Irag issue.

I think 'Ducthwelle' is more reliable. Daily Trust Newspapers and Gamji.com are fantastic.

EMTL.

That is true EMTL especially if one takes into consideration the latest news about Udey and Qusey Saddam. For the sake of God, what is the benefit to the Americans when those two were killed? Afterall they have yet to explain the reason of attacking Iraq since no wmd were found. As for news listening, I will categorize mine as follows, I stopped listening to nigerian news because of the senseless type of news reporting and biasness. I only listen to people when expressing views about any "news". Secondly, I listen to any news that is good to my ears only!

Salisu,

Mine is not only news but they are "NEWSES".

Sincerely speaking, what we read and hear everyday especially in Nigeria here is always almost fititious. Yes, I think we may conviniently call dem "fititious newses".

I always prefer reading analysis and books written about events and ideas than to listen to news or read  about happenings in  nigerian dailies.

May be if I have a friend in newspaper publishing house... yes, he can help me with the real and more authentic news than the refined one that is published by newspapers.

BBC or VOA may tell one d truth bout what is happening in  his country but bout d world and there own countries? they tell u only d good things. Everything can nearly be said to be politicised in dis money-oriented, capitalist  world of ours.

Tis unfortunate
