Hi all,
In short, a similar thread had been in existing towards the end of last year. Lets see how about this one as well.
Personally I can say many memorabe and immemorable things have happened. Prominent among them are:
*My two sisters gave birth to two bouncing babies
*We were taken 'hostage' by armed robbers at Country Mall. And the blooded killing of one police there.
*My journey to Ashaka and the spectacular even that took place there.
*Obama, who is African-American, emerged as the elected president of the US
*Read many novels, eg of Dan Brown, Sydney Sheldon, Jeffery Archer, among others. And I alhamdulillah finished reading many other religious ones, eg Kitab attauheed, Umdatul ahkam, bulugul maraam, among others
*KanoOnline Online Forum Get 2Gether
*My bos son who is presently at AKTH unconscious. Allah ya bashi lafiya
* Na dace da wani abu ;D
*etc

The year 1429AH has been a blessing. Allah Ya gafarta kura-kurenmu kuma ya sanya 1430AH ta fi ta bara kyau.
So many, many, many good things happened to me, my family and friends- AlhamdulilLah.
I lost my Dear Sister (Fatima) and her son (Muhammad Tukur)
Israel attacked and killed many of my brothers and sisters in Palestine..... many of my brothers and sisters were also killed by Jang-led Terrorists in Jos. Allah (SWT) ya jikan dukkanin Musulmai.
Allah Ya Jikan su EMTL. Hala she died at child birth?
mashaAllah we've got lot of happenings in the previous islamic year. and we suppose to use this chance and not miss-use it we should correct our mistakes and avoid repeating such mistakes. and also we should keep praying in this currently new islamic year may ALLAH bless us and keep our nation and state safe,and may he bless our rulers and take them to the righteous path ameen.

1429/2008 was a very up and down year for me as well. It was the happiest year
of my life as well as one of the saddest, most depressing year ever. I reached a
few significant milestones but also lost two people I care about so much to
Nigeria's health system.
The most shocking one was my friend that passed away at childbirth. So sudden,
so unexpected. Perfectly healthy mother, perfectly healthy baby, low risk pregnancy
yet she didn't make it. As if that wasn't bad enough, a few weeks later the baby that
was born died too. Anyways, haka Allah ya so.
I swear, sometimes Nigeria's maternal mortality rate scares the crap out of me. Although,
Alhamdulillah it's not as bad as Sierra Leone or Niger, but it's still pretty high IMO. I think
the current ratio is over 500 deaths in 2000 births. That's greater than 1/4! If that's not
scary I don't know what is.
Apart from that it was a wonderful year. Alhamdulillah, it could've been worse!
May Allah SWT reward all those that perished in 2008 with aljannahfirdaus, amen. You, who lost relations and beloved ones must pray and also take heart with the believe that HE who gave them lives has taken it back. HE does as HE pleases and no one should question HIS actions.

The year had been a fairly nice one even though there was ups and downs
like i've also lost some family members, but alhamdulilah Allah bamu Alheri ameen.

Funny, i don't seem to vividly remember much of what happened in 2008.
That is why keeping a dairy is such a good thing.
Anyways here's how 2009 came for me.
On the 1st of january at exactly 4am i recieved a call on my phone. I was so sleepy i had wanted to turn the phone off but then i saw an uknown Lagos Number. 01-2772000.I wondered who it was and decided to pick up.
'Hello' i said. I then heard 'Hello,my name is Erastus Akingbola,the Managing Director and Chief executive of Intercontinental bank'. My heart pounded and i thought i would hear 'you just won N50million in the intercontinental bank savings promo,or maybe a brand new car'. Nayi zumbur na tashi ashe wai new year message ne.....i hissed ehn.
Why wake me up at 4am to wish me happy new year. It was an automated message.
I almost closed my account the next day.

I will remember this year 2008 for the fact that I was lost from 8th Zul-Hijja to 11 Zul Hijja1 Many people got lost during the Arafa! ;D
