Title: SEXUALITY EDUCATION IN NIGERIA

SEXUALITY  EDUCATION  IN  NIGERIA

Well ??..Indeed everybody has his own perception and way of reasoning based on our differences both religiously , morally, culturally and socially to some extent even financially. But what is worthy of saying must be said in respective of what others think or say when it comes to contemporary issues.
The sexuality education proposal meant to be incorporated into our Primary and Secondary Schools using HIV/AIDS as smoke screen is nothing but lack of  concept and a clear indication of our failure as a nation not only to manage our natural resources accordingly but also failure in provision of sound and proper morality in our society. As evenly justified by high corruption, arm robbery, looting of public fund etc. As far as we will think objectively, we will not fail to detect the conspiracy.
It is my believe that the program is tantamount to degeneration of the little that remain of our morality in our society. I?m saying all this based on the curriculum drafted, some of the content are;
Primary School Education Curriculum?
1 pupil should be able to
a Identify appropriate ways of expressing affection/ acceptance eg Hugging, Shaking hands, Holding hands etc
b explain situations when it feels good to torched eg when happy, in need of support etc
explain why it feels good to be torched eg feels safe, loved,feel cared etc.
Junior  Secondary  School;
Student should be able to explain differences between sex, sexuality and sexual intercourse and possible implications eg sex anatomic characteristics (male and female) Sexuality  feelings , attitudes, relationships etc. Definition  of masturbation, myrth surrounding it. Identify possible ways of expressing sexual pleasure eg touching, kissing,hugging,masturbation, etc. and lots more.
Therefore I strongly believe teaching this thing in our upper primary and junior secondary schools will only help in degeneration of what remain in our moral setting rather than reducing the risk of exposing youths to HIV/AIDS .
My argument is based on the fact that at that tender age , the pupil are at psychological stage of experimenting anything being thought of, based on the curiositic state of mind psychologically at that age.
There is no gain in it my fellow reasonable and objective minds, therefore , NO TO IT is the best we can say :!:  :D

The curriculum as presented looks worrying, sex education curuculum must or should be developed by the society not idealists in some ministries, it should be able to measure to our cultural heritage, thus I believe the subject should not be introduced in the form describe.  The only worry one has is if we don't teach our children where do they learm from? who teaches them? in other words I am also very scared of where and how children get to learn sexualty matters.

The beauty of democracy is that the citizens are entitled to express their own opinions in matters concerning the State. I would therefore be pleased to be allowed the use of your medium to convey my disapproval of the secret introduction and implementation of sex education in our secondary schools.

I am among the millions of Nigerians that are feeling betrayed and let down in this public scandal of propagating evil. If one is to make a fair assessment of this regime's much-publicised Universal Basic Education and then ponder at the intermittent ASUU strikes plus the controversial and un-strategic autonomy syndrome of our universities, then the realisation will be that the system of education in Nigeria is being silently strangled, this is a pity.

It is now becoming clear, shockingly though, to many parents who have children in secondary schools, that their wards are being secretly coerced into participating in sex education programs. Students are being taken to a chosen centre in some States, brain-washed, given sex education and after such adventure handed some money and condoms before they are returned home wild! This is certainly a waste of resources and adulteration of the minds of these gullible harmless children of this country. Is not this action constituting a malfeasance conduct of the authorities? Leadership entails the protection of the citizens' lives, honour, culture and faith.

The authorities need to understand that the majority of Nigerians are religious and the propagation of sex education is forbidden, in for example Islam. Sex education as taught in our schools is evil and will certainly leads to more evil and decadence. This is a disservice to the education system in Nigeria. QED.

Personally, my understanding of this program is that it is aimed at causing malevolent and malicious campaign against morality, financed by the West and the producers of condom and other forms of contraceptives. This is all orchestrated under the vogue disguise of fighting AIDS. What we need to fight AIDS is certainly CONDUCT not CONDOMS. Our blind loyalty to the Western propaganda due to the ramification of its technological progress seems to only plunge us into cesspool of moral and spiritual corruption and bankruptcy!

The end result of sex education in our schools curricular would be the propagation and legalising of adultery and fornication. Islam taught that adultery is not only shameful in itself and inconsistent with any self-respect, but it opens the road to many evils. The believers have been warned in the glorious Qur'an, "And come not near unto adultery Lo it is an abomination and an evil way." Q (17: 32) adultery is indeed harmful, it destroys the basis of the family, it works against the interest of children born or to be born, it may cause murders and feuds and loss of reputation and property, and also loosen permanently the bond of society. Not only should it be avoided as a sin, but any approach or temptation to it should also be avoided. Sex education must be stopped in our schools, I wish to plead.

Puritanical approach is required in developing curricular and sundry programs for the education of the youth. It is unfortunate that the authorities are instead propagating sex education, this is a sardonic satire to our religion and culture.

Acquired Immune Deficiency Syndrome (AIDS) has led to millions of death and thus, an appropriate campaign needs to be embarked upon. The current sex education program being propagated, is in short an ineffective precaution it is neither curative nor preventive to the spread of AIDS. The root cause of AIDS spread is promiscuity and homosexuality. The campaign should therefore be directed at stopping this not enunciating safer sex, which invariably encourages promiscuity, and in addition advertises the products of the manufacturers of condoms and contraceptives.

Good citizens of this great country should strive hard to ward off evil, because it is a religious duty, we should join hands in closing the door of evil of adultery, of course not by teaching our children sex education, but by availing to them a sound and moral education.
