INTERNET ISLAMIC UNIVERSITY: AN UPDATE
A Best Example of Volunteerism
Al-hamdulillah!
The Internet Islamic University (IIU) is moving forward. IIU is in its 5th year of operations. Following is a brief summary of achievements and an update.
v Course offerings
Presently, we are offering certificate courses. We are expecting diploma courses after summer 2006. All these courses are credited against bachelor?s degree in Islamic studies.
v Graduation
So far sixty three students have completed IIU certificate course. They are now in the diploma program.
v Enrollment
IIU students represent diverse educational backgrounds and levels, including college students, professionals and PhDs in different disciplines.
At present we have 605 students from Australia, Cayman Islands, Germany, Malaysia, Saudi Arabia, Singapore, Trinidad and Switzerland and of course the majority is from Canada and the US. These numbers are increasing every quarter. However, all of them don?t enroll in each course each quarter.
v Registration
About 1,700 people have submitted their registration forms. They can become students anytime after submitting their academic degree.
v Faculty
IIU faculty of comprises outstanding scholars who have a wealth of experience in Islamic disciplines. To maintain the quality of education they are paid according to the US pay scales.
v Curriculum
IIU curriculum is a good mix of rich traditional subjects and contemporary topics and issues. We have developed our own lesson plan for each subject, which means that each teacher covers at least the required material.
v Technology
We are the world?s first live and interactive Islamic University on the Internet. Students see and hear the professor in real time. Whatever he writes on ?Board? is transferred to the students? monitors and they get answers to their questions in voice from the professor.
v Fees payment
However, at present, only 15% students are able to pay full tuition. The rest get financial assistance from IIU ranging from 40 to 70% of their tuition. Financial assistance is offered from the Zakat fund that we received from our donors or we reduce the tuition fees for these needy students.
v The best example of volunteerism
Sixty percent of our work is on volunteer basis. All of our management team including Br. Zaheer Uddin, Dr. Sulayman Nyang, Dr. Abdalla Idris Ali and Imam Siraj Wahhaj are sacrificing and devoting their time Fi Sabil Allah since the inception of the University. Similarly, our technical team is devoting their time free for this noble task.
v Future challenge
WE need funds to offer more courses and for the expansion and survival. If you believe, what we are doing is need of the hour and it will keep our future generations rooted in Islam and will help them become leaders, please help us financially.
Please donate generously online. We are a non-profit tax exempt (501 (c) 3) educational organization. IIU tax returns are available on request.
We pray, may Allah accept these efforts for His Deen and reward you immensely for your donation. Aameen.
