Can anyone who has anything to do with the Federal Government help explain this sheer neglect. Here is a road that serves millions of people, that is an access to the economic well being of more than 50% of the population turned into a death trap.
But why?
Because it serves North-West and Nigeria's dead anti-hero, Dictator Sani Abacha is from Kano and his family will benefit if the Government repair the road. Is this niot madness? What other reason is there? For every life lost on that road the Shugaban Kasa, Dictator Obasanjo and his minister of works should be prosecuted for murder. Now that the Minister is from North-West lets see if we will see action. Meanwhile the FGN/Obasanjo are building new roads in Ogun and Benin and the roads of South East, North East and North West are left to crumble. God dey!!!!!!
LoL!... God dey... well, you cant really blame "obasanjo".. because, northerners are working with him, and they also fail to act...
Thats ryt Mujaheed! Na u wey start correct thread on this issue, credits 2 u.
I'll chip in as well.......sayin.... when will d Nijanz esp d Arewanz start fastenin their seat bealts 'n' minding d gaps of d cars infront 'n' behind them, so also when will Alhajis/Mallam/Hajiyanz,Ogas 'n' Madams stop poppin their heads out 'n' rainin curses just because 1 overtakes by mistake???
When will d Federal Govt sort this misbehaviour & negligence of lousy drivers
ummita.. sai ki ji kaman ki tura leaders in ko? so u can take over and handle biz right...
or maybe its juss us.... but.. how hard is it to cover up port holes?? ??
expand roads?? ??
try and find some kinda solution to prevent mass armed robery?
or sumthing!!!!! for the advancement of ur people??!
and u think i want to stand next to the such people on the day of judgement?? lie lie! i no dey!
I heard that sealt bealt will b in action by 2003, have all of u start fastening ur seatbelts or are u breaching the law?
Mujaheed, amongst d problem is all those sideways sellers and buyers: Masu orange, babanas water xcetra xcetra, they r d onces makin things complicated. U will see 2 ppl, e:g freind parkin in d middle of the street & leavin their cars behind in order to greet each other, a chicken seller stickin his chicken in the rare mirror of d buyer who happens 2 b d driver as well (imagine), blockin his view, *& distracting others attention, there by causin commotion & more. Accidents occur, theres no one to compensate for the victim, not even the govt talkless of the person responsible for the sheer negligent act that has endagerd the life of millions of ppl. Lets look at the handicapped victims & disabled, if a driver should be negliegent thereby causin harm to others. If the govt wont du nefink!!!! At least they should put comp so that ppl could claim. If claims or charges r pressed on these dirty drivers, truss me things wud b better. Eg: Drivin safely, Pedestrians crossin safely & much more
Infact, its not the govt, & buildin raods xcetra, neither is it about havin a northern govt 2 straighten things out. Its d ppl...................even when the govt put rules they r broken............ Things like port holes.....how many tyms have u seen govt labour workers fillin in those ports & u have "the I dont care cuz I didnt sweat for it" destroyin d port holes over again & again!!!!!! :-/ ?
abumujahid thanx for raizin such issue.
u guyz kunsan ive never had any doubt since from his(OBASANJO...see the name!)inception of power that he is ggoin to be a complete failure especially to tha north.
and ummita u have a point by sayin all fingerz shud not be pointed at Obas alonebut also to some elite northerners who have in tha past years forced their way into tha govt mainstream thru selfish, and greedy means.these our so-called leaders have no interest for tha peeps in tha north all they care for is their personal self and their ever bloossoming account figures.I fell rather abashed and deprived to call these peaople my leaders.
Not to talk of roadz alone tha govt haz failed in virtually all sectors of tha economy.
one more thang, people are juss prayin for a northerner as our next president, why cant u sit downn and say to ure self watt kind of pres do u wishh for?.Certainly i do not wishhh to see my pres emerge from thos northerners ive talked about aabove ,no!! i want to see someone that is God fearing and thinks of other peeps more than he thinks of himsellf.a considerate pres who can turn tha tables arounnnnnnd and make a diff.s y'all shud pray hard for a better NIGERIA
i'm out ;) :D
As we await d seat belts: Something that ponders me is: Will the Road Safety b determined 2 arrest ppl like Anyim, Na'abba and Tinubu & impound their car if caught driving without seat belts?
I dont think so? Cuz d law & order will neva b in our dear country. ::)Takin about 90% of Nijanz neva observe d signs of traffic ligths.
Every1 is in a hurry, no patience: What du u have @ d end? Cars from all junctions end up going nowherer but (jammed)
Next they start shouting abuses each other, & d funny thing is half d insane onces of them come out of their cars 2 start sorting out d vehicles. It is complete madness. (As I recall a trip 2 Zaria.......Cudnt drive cuz I wud have been dead by then
Govt construct roads, but we have 2 really look 2 c d type of roads? D construction firms only spread black tar & collect money from d govt!!! D funny thing is :D D yellow lines & d broken white lines markin d side of d lanes r always missin (imagine)!!!
Apart from Abuja & few other countries (if u ask me) I'd say street lights r 4gotten. If we cannot afford street ligths, wat stops d govt from insistin that road construction firms shud provide wat is it called...........emmmme err yes!! :D "CATS EYE". The cats eye can equally be provided in d towns both sides & @ d center of all roads. No electricity required- just pieces of reflecting plastics simple! ;)
Here this kanoonlinerz: 2 digress a bit, not tryin 2 downgrade Nija, juss a fact, If I can remember Elementary: Elementary physics teaches that black surface absorbs more heat ryt? Y provide a black man, in a tropical country, working in d hot sun on a black surface "office" (roads) with a black uniform?!!!!!!!!! ;D (NIJANZ NA WA)
Comin bck 2 d roads d irony is: few yrs bck, there was this disturbin xperience I had. on d highways of major towns or villages, If my memory serves me ryt. There is a village after d 1st toll gate on Abuja-Kaduna (ryt or wrong?) over 200 petrol tankers, lorries & truck were packed on both sides.
What d govt need 2 du, is 2 stop this madness by providing large dwarf fence parkin area & b collectin parkin fees. Another source of revenue init?
There is this particular village YRS BCK, that d name sounds sooooooo funny Dunno whether it still xsist, mayb some of u dont even know d place! anywayz I have always had a passion in pronoucin it)........ MAKERFI......!!! Now u tell me wat is Makerfi doing there? juss a small community livin on road sides increasin d pollution there.
Let me round things up its gettin a bit borin, (I dont dey tiyad 4 typin) yeah as I was sayin we have wifes of village farmers sellin yams oranges etc. They also occupy highways.
We have d Gwari & Fulani 112 kilometres on Abuja-Kaduna way takein over half d road with yams & cattle diary products (nono & fura) lets put a minus 2 d fuldes though ;). We r juss tryin 2 make money.
U will also see women dryin maize, Okro,Peppers & more on d road. they have no where 2 dry it!! They have 2 come on d road & risk their lives!! All they need is 4 d local govt 2 provide slabs 4 them 2 dry off their food stuff ko?
Therez juss 2 much insanity goin on d streets of Abuja-Kaduna. Where r d Govt? They dont even du nefink, all I know say< If someone crash me: na complete compensation: No xcuses.
Wo :o :o This is loooooooooooong. I will try 2 keep it short & simple nxt tymo!!
QuoteApart from Abuja & few other countries (if u ask me) I'd say street lights r 4gotten. That is a good point:
You can hardly see street lights these days, except for Abuja, that also has a reason, where are all the top offical govts based these days? Abuja of course. So other states have long been forgotton, if they like let all the cars crash in darkness as long as FCT has street lights then who cares ko?
Yes cats eyes will do, they dont even consume electricity, but who will hear you out? Absolutely no one? Who will take suggestion? What do you care? !!!!!! As long as the govt dont care
Hey... an fara rule din seat belet for Kano!! di polis go fine u 500 or 600 Naira if u no put belet...this Dec. I went to Kano, one day I was going out, I see driver come put belet!!! for my heart ay se "hmmm yau kuma Sani gayu ne ya tashi!" ashe Sani don wan polis to charge am! I don laugh woo... Nace kwana nawa ne maye zeyi amarya and eat her up!!!
Assalamu alaikum;
Ihsan, thank you very much for sharing this piece of information about the Seat Belt with us. I think this is a very good idea and we should all support it and give it more time to be acceptable by all drivers and passengers.
It is well documented that using seat belts by both drivers and passengers does save lives in case of accidents. What, with the much increasing number of all kinds vehicles and all kinds of drivers as well as the condition of the roads these days, we should applaud this new rule as well as the method of enforcing the rule. If people can not understand the value and importance of using Seat Belt when driving, then the threat of this kind of fine could be a good deterrent and thereby save lives.
We should thank the Governmental Agencies as well as offer them our support for this new Traffic/Road/Driver policy. We also hope and pray that this will be so successful that every driver and passenger will feel like he or she cannot get on the road without using his or her Seat Belt.
Thanks again for sharing this information with us.
mhmmm.........Uncle Salis, sai shekara shekara ana zagayowa!?
Ihsan thnx 4 d info......I juss hope Nijanz will stick 2 d rules!!!!
yeah.. my friend told meeh bout the "seat belt" law..... but then... the condition of roads nko? arent the roads s'pose to be fixed up FIRST?!!...
OOhh god, thanxs 2 god 4 da development :o before they start distroying it again.
Another thing is dat, kum taba gin gida mia poor foundation yasamu good roofing, cos by da tyme someone drives over big holes on the road, da car jumps up and down, well i think the belts will come off. lol Anyway........ :-X
"it's all good, way 2 go nija" for a start
Assalamu Alaikum
While i do not entirely agree with what AbuMujahid wrote here, i must concede that a large number of innocent lives were lossed on this road to warrant urgent action by the FG. zan yi amfani da wannan damar in roki Allah yaji kan Sheikh Ismail Abe, Guda Abdullahi, Tukur SZ, Major Aminu and so many others who died on this road.
Allah yace tashi in temakeka, kamar yadda hausawa sukace. I am saying this because many people donot follow the proper rules and regulations game da yin tuki. I mean how many people use seat belts? or how many people travel at the safe 110kmph? all this restrictions are for our own good and only by realizing this can the damage caused by the non maintainance of this road be mitigated.
Bana nufin cewa babu kaddara kokuma duk wanda ya rasu laifin sane, amma with a little bit more caution, things will improve.
In the mean time, the FG MUST repair this road otherwise people should STOP PAYING THE TOLLS.
Once again Allah ya jin ka duk wanda suka rasu kan wannan shararra (titi, for those who use the kano dialect).
Bissalam.
I will tend to agree with Amin & Ummita, though our roads arent safe and the government isnt doing enuf to make them any better, the truth is most drivers in Naij have no idea of how to drive carefully and proactively.... pple get cars and just drive, especially bus and taxi drivers din nan, most casualties are from public transport vehicles. I strongly feel that an integeral part of making our roads safer is making sure ALL (and i mean ALL) drivers go through stringent driving proficiency tests.
Just recently i read an article on new traffic lights that were installed in Lagos, believe it or not most motorists had no idea what they were there for. You can imagine simple traffic lights being 'rocket science' for pple to understand balle all the other road signs.
As i saw in some car saftey advert sometime back... there was a picture of a badly damaged car, i mean you couldnt even tell what type of car it was, because it was so badly mangled... and below the picture the words "This car had all the safety features in the world, except a designated driver".
Allah ya ci gaba da kare mu a kulum.
