INSPECTOR GENERAL OKIRO Policemen attached to Ali Kwara, an ace thief catcher and Security Adviser to the Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Adamu Aliyu Moddibo, have apprehended a police constable and an army recruit for allegedly serving as  escorts to separate gangs of armed robbers.

Kwara told Daily Trust in Abuja that they were arrested in Abuja in different operations together with the armed robbers on their way to their hiding places. He said the army recruit was in his uniform while escorting the robbers in a separate vehicle. The army could not be reached last night for comment.

“The robbers confessed to have stolen the car, a Honda Accord 2.4 Vti.e Model, otherwise known as ‘End of Discussion’ from the house of one Dr. Kirfi in Abuja. The soldier went with them in a separate car to help them avoid searches at police checking points. When the police arrested the gang, the soldier intervened in an attempt to secure their release but after realising that the reasons he was giving were not convincing, he too was arrested. After a thorough investigation both the robbers and the soldier confessed to have connived in the incidence. The soldier said he was serving in one of the military outfits in Abuja,” he said.

The police constable Ali Kwara said, was arrested while escorting two armed robbers in a Toyota Land Cruiser Prado Model believed to have been stolen from Aba in Abia State.

“The policeman was found sitting in the vehicle in his uniform with a gun pretending to be security aide. After investigation, the robbers confessed to have stolen the vehicle from the owner at gun point in Aba, Abia State. The policeman said he was serving with the Abia State Police Command,” he added.

Kwara said since the all the suspects were arrested in Abuja, they would be handed over to the FCT command for further investigations and prosecution. “Arrangements have been concluded to hand over the suspects to the FCT Police Commissioner today,” Kwara said. The policeman involved in the incidence told Daily Trust the stolen vehicle belonged to the former Chairman of Aba South Local Government Area of Abia State, Chief Patrick Onwuka.

“I served as security aide to Onwuka while he was the Chairman of Aba South Local Government Area. I served as escort to the robbers but did not take part in the robbery,” the policeman said.

Kwara however, called on the police to stop and search any vehicle or group of vehicles moving with uninformed security personnel as escorts. He said investigations have revealed that some of the security operatives acting as escorts are not genuine ones. According to him, this is the only way in which some armed robbers can be arrested.

He also enjoined top government functionaries who have been assigned security personnel as guards and escorts to bear with the police in doing their duties, particularly while conducting searches at police check points. “People have to cooperate with the policemen to enable them carry out their duties of cubing crime,” he said.

Islam / A short articlepo the miracles of Qur'an
« on: May 15, 2008, 03:06:54 PM »
Here is a short article on the miracles of Quran. Please read
and be sure to forward it to all your family and friends. Remember,
everyone can get a free downloadable copy of Quran for free at

Numerous books and literature have been published that
point to the various scientific miracles of Quran. This
article highlights some of those amazing facts.

=> Both the words Al-Hayat (Life) and Al-Maout (death)
are mentioned 145 times each in the Quran

=> Both the words Al-Rajl (Man) and Al-Mara'a (Woman)
are mentioned 24 times each in the Quran

=> The word Al-Yom (Day in English) is mentioned 365 times

=> The word Al-Shahr (Month in English) is mentioned 12 times

=> The word Al-Yahom (Day in English) is mentioned 365 times

=> Both the word Iblees (Devil) and the verses seeking
refuge from the devil are mentioned 11 times each

=> Both the words referring to "hardship" and the one referring to "patience" are mentioned 114 times each in the Quran.

=> A person came to the prophet Muhammad (saws) and asked him whether Allah (God) will indeed put humans back together in the hereafter after they die in this life. Allah replied in the Quran "Does a man
think that We shall not assemble his bones? Yes, We are able to put together in perfect order the tips of his fingers." (Quran, 75:3,4). Now we know that fingerprints are unique for each individual and the verse in the Quran refers not only that Allah will put them together but the process will be accurate to the level of putting the fingerprints together.

=> Einstein was among the first who explored at length the concept of relativity of time. The Quran states: "...A day with your Lord is equivalent to a thousand years in the way you count. (The Qur'an, 22:47)". Also "The angels and the Spirit ascend to Him in a day whose length is fifty thousand years." (The Qur'an, 70:4)"

=> The process of formation of rain through winds over water is a phenomenon only scientifically discovered. However Quran mentioned it hundreds of years ago in the verse: "It is God Who sends the winds which stir up clouds which He spreads about the sky however He wills. He forms them into dark clumps and you see the rain come pouring out from the middle of them. When He makes it fall on those of His slaves He wills, they rejoice (The Qur'an, 30:48)"
