A bed for my weary head,
grub for my empty guts
were all i asked of him
but the man gave me words.
'patience child, it is well'.
words that are true yet empty
for my head still needs a bed
and my guts remain empty,
words cannot fill them up.

Yesterday is gone
deeds cannot be changed
and words have become like broken eggs.
today has come,
and it is your friend.
so do what you can,
and do what you will...
but tread carefully sir,
for tomorrow is a stranger
who will come after today,
and today will become yesterday
where it will be sad to say,
'yesterday has gone...
can I retrace my steps?
can I take back my words?'
then yesterday will be your enemy
just as today is your friend.
so tread carefully sir
for tomorrow is a stranger...
whether friend or foe,
you and I cannot today tell...

The Voice of Pain

As each second passes

I feel stabs from a million shattered glasses

I feel like my days are numbered

And every sound of my heart-beat is thundered

I feel like a bird just learning to fly

"The next minute"...I feel like an old man ready to die

My gauge reads:"Empty"

But my assignments are still plenty

Choked with the stress of suppresing my fears,

I sometimes feel like succumbing to tears

Though gagged by the strength of my pride

I'm still haunted by these weaknesses I hide

Listen as my soul screams

For my heart and mind have become rival teams

When I'm all alone or simply lost

In the middle of my ocean of thoughts,

No matter how hard I try,

Paddling is only by your smile

When my wind of faith fails,

You breathe courage into my sails

And when a storm of doubt capsizes my emotional boat

Your life-guard words are always there to keep me afloat

Because you're you, I'm now the man I longed to be

Baby, thank you for loving me.

To me, you are worth far more than a kingdom of treasure

Because every single thing you do gives me pleasure

So sweet it gives me pain

I fall apart like the rain

Everyday with you is something new

Even if I spent ten life-times with you

Stop loving me now or else I'll collapse

This is over-dose

Far more than I can grasp

Even when I hold you close

The pillars of my heart tremble

Yet, you're so gentle

You're my special angel

Born into this world tagged with my label

If I said I loved you, I would be wrong

Because the words that describe my feelings for you are unborn

I like to do wishful thinking

Though I sometimes end up sinking

I'd love to build castles in the sky

Or at least give it a try

I'd like to catch one of 'em shooting stars

And probably get a ride to mars

I'd love to swim in the ocean of love

Spread my wings and cruise the skies like a dove

I'd really like to find the A.I.D.S cure

Show the world how 1 and 1 can make four

I'd really love to be the world's greatest poet

Before the interruption of that impolite man called "Death"

I'd love to visit heaven

And be back home before dinner at seven

I'd love to just see hell

So I can have stories to tell

I wish I knew more about the bible

I don't even understand the title

I really wish I would never have to die

Pointless really telling you why.

You ask me if I love you,

and I ask myself how to begin

to share with you

the feelings in my heart.

You inspire in me a love so deep

words cannot describe it,

so powerful that it overwhelms

my every thought.

You ask me if I love you,

and I wish there were a way

you could just see into my soul

and find the depth of passion,

tenderness, and love

that holds you closer to my heart

than anyone or anything else.

You ask me if I love you,

and I look into the magic

of your eyes and promise,

"Yes I love you...

I always will".

Hunger is etched
on the minds of everybody
and poverty stalks the land
while desperation plagues the soul
as children's laughter
battle the uncertain future.

These are days
where the sun reflects
the atrocities of humanity
on nature
and on humanity
for love is lost
and hatred universal.

chit-chat / The Nigerian National Anthem - Re-Versed
« on: February 20, 2005, 12:23:27 PM »
The price of corruption
Nigeria's call neglect
Stealing wealth of our fathers' land
They rob and steal till date
The labours of our heroes past
May now just be in vain
They serve to take our wealth
Dividing a nation where thieves
And robbers now reign.

Authors of confussion
Mislead our noble cause
Mastermind our leaders rights
And our youths to unlearn the truth
But of dishonesty to know
It's just so plain to see
Great lofty heights attained
Dividing a nation
Where Peace and
Justice once reigned

The famous Dr. Ugochi was sent on call to the scorching Sahara desert.

On arriving at his new post, he immediately sent a telegram to his wife who he had left back on Jos plateau.

Unfortunately, it was delivered to the wrong Mrs. Ugochi whose husband had died only the day before.

Just imagine her horror when she opened the telegram and it read.

JUST ARRIVED THIS MORNING AFTER A BUMPY RIDE.THE HEAT IS UNBEARABLE!!

chit-chat / Airport crime test
« on: February 20, 2005, 12:17:23 PM »
A study was conducted recently to determine the average crime rate at international airports around the world.

The study made use of an ordinary looking man standing in the airport terminal and reading a newspaper. He had an empty briefcase next to him, which he would ignore. Observers then recorded how long it took for the briefcase to be snatched.

In Brussels, Belgium the case was stolen within 4 minutes and 20 seconds.

In Washington DC it was stolen within 3 minutes and 16 seconds.

At Heathrow, London the briefcase was snatched in less than 2 minutes.

In New York, the case was stolen within 1 minute and 5 seconds.

In Los Angeles it took only 43 seconds before the case was snatched.

At Lagos, Nigeria, the people conducting the study were robbed on the way to the airport and the briefcase was stolen along with the car!

chit-chat / Hole in one
« on: February 20, 2005, 12:14:47 PM »
There was this naija guy who was attending a meeting in France. He didn't speak much French. He met a woman and that night they had their own meeting.

While they were where having sex, she kept yelling, "TROU FAUX, TROU FAUX." He did not know what that meant, but assumed it to be some sort of praise and appreciation for his technique. So he kept going even faster.

The next day, he went to play golf with the men he had the meeting with. One of them made a hole in one. To praise the guy, he yelled, "TROU FAUX, TROU FAUX !"

They all looked at him and said, "what do you mean wrong hole?"
