Dan-Borno

I will try as much as possible to be brief, even though
the thread requires alot, but i enjoin my fellow kline
compatriots to read thoroughly.

This piece of topic drew my attention from the Leadership
Newspaper written by one of their columnist Ray Morphy.
As he analysed the issue of unemployment among youth in
our country, it rang a bell on my head, that while we are
talking of unemployment rate in Nigeria at more than 50%,
then, definately, the north and infact the core north gets
aways with 30% if not 40% of the unemployed youth.

When you talk of the number of students graduating in our
Universities yearly, add also the number of youth graduating
on our streets, you will come to the conclusion that desspite
their readiness to earn a living, the society/government have
not make any arrangement as to that effect.  These youths
later become frustrated, and within no time, their frustration
mounts against the society.

Just imagine a graduate who cannot afford a bus fare to
attend to an interview, in the process of treking to the
venue of the interview, he was sorried for being late and will
not be attended.  It is at this same time, Executive Governors
and other top government functionaries move in obscene
convoys of all new jeeps!  Dont talk about the hundred of
millions voted for only renovation of our custodians of mandate's
house(s).

It is vividly clear, that the daily armed robbery of houses, highways,
financial institutions and in recent times a whole market (sabon gari)
is on the rise and you cannot separete it as one of the effects of
unemployment.  How many people felt the effect of the sabon gari
incident? there were loss of life, then property, and the worst of
all these is the brewed tension which ensued between the masses
and the government, while the later is accusing the former of not
fulfilling its obligation.  No amount of police equipment or training can
rein in crime unless society strives to reduce the numbers of those
frustrated among them.

No matter how little it may be, establishment of local industries will
no doubt change the above scene, especially, its a challenge to our
politicians, who are mainly the intoxicants of these youth groups.
Instead, our politicians, despite the looting, go ahead to invest abroad
with consequences that the economy is drained of capital. Abin haushi,
the little ones trying to establish their business in Nigeria, where
frustrated by government policies and lack of infrastructures like
electricity, access road, water and security.  A typical laid down of
industries will be seen in the likes of Sharada.

DB quoting RAY MURPHY:
"Farming has become increasingly commercially unattractive such that, that mainstay of the economy is losing personnel to thuggery, crime and politics. The import of this societal upheaval is that there are millions of unemployed able bodied men and women who become easy recruits to the world of crime and robbery. Many of these young people are deeply angry and by moving out to the cities, they have gone outside the ameliorating parental supervision and influence. They find themselves in towns and ghettos where they are forced to survive by their wits despite their education."

Before now, we become proud of having obtained  a Bachelors
Degree and like a hungry leoparpard, companies and government
agencies rush to give us job - gone are those days in nostalgia.
Grema is a graduate of Mechanical Engineering, however, he is
now into vendorship of newspaper - more grease to his elbows.
University Degree is no more a guarantee to a better future.

For how long this trend is going stay in Nigeria, and more especially
in Arewa?

Is there any future hope from our Honourable (Horrible) Representatives
in attending to this youth unemployment in our society?

How true and feasible is Mr. President's current policies in attacking
this menace?

The Yan'kalare's are on the raise
The Ecomogo are on the increase
The Yan Daba are gaining more confidence each day
The Yan Gumurzu are now coming up
The Takife Group just sprang up
The OPC has been institutionalised
What about the Niger Delta Crisis?
The Aljanna Dole's
Bakiya Ahlul Mai-Tatsine are growing muscles
Yan Achaba are getting out of hands
Etc etc - I dont pray to see the day when all these
and other groups will come together and fight a common
course.

I feel you DB.I am at the moment very unemployed and quite scared that I might not get a job.I graduted years ago with a Bachelors and now everyones telling me I need to have a Masters and at least a certificate in comptuer studies or IT or sumthin like that.It really just discourages me.
One thing I have always lamented was the way North gave up farming because of the oil boom. When I was a kid we used to pass by Gidan Murtala on our way to primary shool and we would see those men making the groundnut pyramids(havent i written this somewhere b4).My dad used to tell us different stories bout the laboures and we also studied how ground nut was a major produce in the North. Now farming is gone and those that do have farms say it kind of needs a lot of capital to really be successful. So that rules out the masses farming.
I am St Louis old girl and I remember in those days all the factories there were working and the air was always full of various smells(i used to think that the smell of bier was like yam porridge) and it was also noisy with the sound of machines.I used to go to the sick bay and be soothed to sleep by the noises. Now just visit Bompai and you can count the number of factorys that are actually alive.DUK sun mutu. And that means more unemloyed people.
What YarAdua and his governors need to do is to provide electricity, water and roads for all those companys to resurrect and for others to spring up.The old factories are dying and none are springing up and more and more students graduate every year.SO ya ake so a yi da su?Muma da muka yi graduating long ago bamu sami aiki ba bare na yanzu.
By the way is it true that da gangan ake hana Kano wuta dan ta lalace?
P.S
Those yan achaba are really a pain in the neck

I wouldnt be surprised Precious. Amma yanzu da yake dan Arewa a kan ragamar mulkin maybe he wont feel so threatened by Kano as the main hub of finance in the north. Koda yake kuma wai yanzu according to what Muhsin wrote kwanakin baya somewhere that Katsina gets a constant supply now. Allah Ya Kyauta. Lokacin Audu Bako, da aka gama gina Tiga dam, one of its functions was to generate electricity for Kano State, Har Ya shigo da kayan injinan da za a fara generating amma da ga Lagos the powers that be killed the project saboda hassada pure and simple. Allah Ya Jikan Audu Bako.

There is no reason why Nigeria is in the state it is in except for  massive corruption allied with incompetence because so may who are chosen to rule have no plans and no policies and are only serving their own greed. Nigeria should be one of the richest countries in the world but it has been robbed blind and hyper inflation brought about largely by the results of corruption has destroyed the economy.
I remember talking to Kano Governor Audu Bako over thirty years ago about his plans to provide irrigation across Kano State through Tiga dam which would allow Kano to grow enough vegetables to supply all of Europe. He died and his plans died with him.
Agriculture is the way ahead for the North and always has been. The drift of the rural population into the towns has had disastrous consequence.
My in-law used to have two huge factories in Bompai.  He can no longer keep them operating because the economy is in such a disaster.
What will Nigeria do when the oil money is all stolen and eventually runs out? Starve?

It is very damaging and disgusting how politicians use our youths to achieve their purpose and later dump them on the streets. I just cannnot understand how just ourselves can raise against ourselves. Why for goodness sake can't we unite to fight a common enemy? Instances abound where thugs in the name of ecomog, kalare, sara suka, etc have attacked innocent souls. There were reports of some of them kidnapping women and young girls in broad daylight, just for the heck of it. If our governments cannot tackle these faceless miscreants once and for all, then one day there wont be anyone to govern! May the Almighty forbids, amen. :'(

Dan-Borno

Let me borrow Precious words: I feel you Waduz:
The system continously deteriorate, because our
politicians always take politics for a lucrative form
of business; you either invest with your own money
or someone to invest on your behalf, which ever
way round, an income/profit is being expected
in return.

Just imagine the recent house, barely less than
100 days, corruption and misappropriation of
public funds have taken precedent and divided
the house for bad.

No one dare cares about the youth after the election,
because he has been fully compensated with hard
drugs and meagre amount of money for food, thereby
living the youth vulnerable to the whole society to
face the consequences.

I always emphasise that except our politicians and
the super economic class (attajirai yan kasuwa) come
together with the sole intention of building a very
good society were both the talakawas and the masu
kudi respect each other.  This will never in any way
deprive the attajirai from enjoying all the enjoyables.

I Supplicate as usual:
