ARITHMETIC INTERPRETATIONS OF OBJ?S NATIONAL CONFAB THROUGH VAN DER WAALS?

Anybody who is acquainted or familiar with ordinary Chemistry might have heard, passed or come across the weak attractive forces between molecules, which due to their dispassionate nature create momentary dipoles caused by fluctuations in their electronic configurations. To take care of these intermolecular forces, one man devoted his energy, time and resources by carefully studying their behavioral pattern and in the end of it all established a legitimate relationship via an equation of state-commonly described as Van der Waals?-named after him.
But unlike Van der Waal?s, Obasanjo?s political calculus, using all alternative methods and mathematical abracadabra, failed to proffer altruistic model that would serve as a stabilizing factor to the Nation?s democratic terrain-instead, it resulted into National Political Reform Conference, generally tagged as OBJ?s Confab; where majority of the citizenry are not only faulting its legitimacy but also condemning the entire composition of all the paraphernalia involved.

Mine is not to delve into the question of constitutional legitimacy or complexities attached to it, rather I intended to cast a concrete foundation for a new nation building and reconstruction. Of course, some of us have argued inter alia that what Nigeria need especially at this modern period of global economic rebirth and hegemony is not political reform par se but economic re-engineering. We can therefore understand the rational behind this view, only if we appreciate the fact that you cannot talk of political reformation or restructuring without touching the economic aspect. As political Scientists, Social and economic analysts have it that the two are complimentary; hence they simply put them as political-economy.

So going by the current political reform process, it is evident that this administration (Obasanjo?s admin) is no longer interested in talking of other growth and development sectors such as economy, education and agriculture, which are the essential elements in any national re-orientation and rejuvenation. Perhaps, this is part of the reasons why so many Nigerians are not happy with this reform of a thing, because it is already perceived as another jamboree zone for people to improvise in tea and coffee taking and in the end go back home with their takeaway lavishly.

In fact, my major grouse with this reform euphoria is its lack of long-sightedness and visionary ability to understand that the present Nigerian system is thriving on a bastardized economy where 87% of its revenue is expended on salaries and emoluments of government officials. And don?t forget that 70% of the food per head of individual Nigerians is less than $1 a day.
Now, there is a need to pause here and ask some fundamental questions: one, why are the so called political ruling classes not active and/or mindful about the country?s dwindling situations?
Two, why is Mr. President convening a political conference with the sole agenda of selecting few vocal individuals, who are mostly bereft of ideas, to come and discuss Nigeria, does it mean the centre (presidency) no longer has trust and confidence in itself?

If we can attempt to answer these fundamental questions in earnest, that will give room for us to summarily ask the cardinal question: who is responsible for Nigeria?s current predicaments that made the entire system so chaotically disturbed?

Fellow Nigerians, the answers to these questions in my own observations are not far fetched from these:
First, as a follower of Obasanjo?s military/ political career since childhood, I understand that he does not have the personal temerity, audacity and even the brevity of turning Nigeria a new leaf. All he has then and now is high penchant for democracy, which to me, he seems to be learning. Remember, in 1979 when Obasanjo was given the mantle to serve, he was highly petrified to the extent of running helter-skelter just to relieve up him self from the leadership duty because it was probably not an easy and interesting thing to do. Now that Mr. President has acquired some of the rudimentary skills and wherewithal of politics, his shoulders are held high that all he does is jockeying on our constitutional mandate. He has succeeded in creating internal crises in our home grown nascent democracy that we have been nurturing. The monotonous raw deal in PDP is enough pointer to the fact that Olusegun Obasanjo is the one and only key player of Nigerian politics. He dismembered the party to suit his own purpose. Opposition parties have been relegated to the background via implants and setups so that none of them could destabilize his forces let alone their sheer destruction. Unfortunately enough, the National Assembly is his own handbag. Whether they like it or not they have to fine tune  to the dance and lyrics of Mr. President if not because of anything but just for teaching them to sit tight comfortably on ligitimise illegitimate mandates. That is why they don?t have the courage and conviction to come out and challenge or correct the prevailing circumstances within the polity despite their attendant illegalities and lawlessness.

Therefore, Nigeria and Nigerians are made so weak a force that seemingly cannot constitute a formidable appearance that could be used against the misgovernance meted on them by Obasanjo and his henchmen. My fear is that of unequaled rebound of this negative force which will definitely have a great impulse especially now that the political configuration is full of uncertainties. In fact, because of this similar expectation of uncertainties, people like Van der Waal could not take chances since he realized that one day his forces might decide to have an inverse relationship with other atomic elements and that could constitute a major threat. He therefore, carefully determined their power value and finally equated it equally with inter atomic distances just to obtain a perfect harmony. He achieved this with maximum degree of precaution.
The question now is; will Obasanjo learn from this right honourable gentleman?

Jibo Nura ,Nigeria.
o try and fail is atleast to learn. That will save one the inestimable loss of what might have been (positive or negative).
