Whats the deal with Id-Mauleed?
As far as Islam is concerned, there is no such thing as Id-Mauleed.First of all, it is described as the "birthday" of the Hoply prophet, but the prophet himself never celebrated this day or spoke of it even one bit!. And his beloved folowers and Khalifs neva celebrated it nor spoke of it. And in terms of everything, none of us could compare our faith in Allah and love for Mohammad with theirs. Niether the hadith(life and teachings of the prophet) nor Sira(Biography of the prophet) ever mentioned anything about it...then why do we cvelebrate it after so many years? why do we create something that is not known to us? Indeed this is questionable!      Besides....the prophet was born on the same day he died...so which are we celebrating?
I do not wish to cause any confusions, and if I'm wrong I'd gladly pick up corrections from any of you, I simply ask... What is the deal with Id-Mauleed? Thank you.

Assalamu Alaika Ibro2g.
Yes indeed Maulud-e-nabiyy was not celebrated during the prophet's lifetime but that does not mean it should not be celebrated. kamar yadda kasani, in kai bakatsinen gaske ne, maulidi is not just a time of biki da shakatawa, but a time of 'aba i ulama i' " my parents my teachers" if you get what I am saying.
Yara na yin haddar karatuktukansu a wannan lokacin and that is good. Also the alibidi. I cannot recall katsinawa having alibidi but we, kanawa do. People deliciously prepare danshila ( which i must confess i have never eaten) and miyar dage dage in such a nice fashion that even 'arna' become envious.
One more thing, mutan katsina saboda barkwanchi da rana tsaka suke maulidi.
PS: I myself am half bakatsine half bakano so dont say i am making fun of KT.

Wa' sallamun Alaika, ya Monkey :-/
We are making it what it isn`t. Ummul mu`munain said;" Anyone who brings forth what is not among us or what is not of our teaching, then he will not be among us" The activities might not be haram but the belief is bid`ah. Doesn`t that scare u?

Most impressed,

My family though been on the sub-sahara region and practising Islam 4 over 300 yrs have not been celebrating Ei-d Mauloud in the way it is being celebrated. Yet on my part I don't regard it as something of a "Bid ah" an innovation that is abhorred in Islam. That is add to the fact that the Prophet himself and the four rightly guided Khalifs did not celebrate it.

This of-course becouse the concepts of Halal and Haram in Islam do not limit with what is known in the time of the prophet and his companions alone. Their's was only to provide a yardstick with which we can weigh the legitimacy of our actions only. And it is  based upon this yardstick we should conclude in the validity of celebrating Eid-mouloud or not.

Nas

I dont even think Ed-el MAulud is really an Islamic way for celebrating or marking that day. It is not even sunni so I dont really think it is important. But in a way you can show joy to ALLAH.

The Nobel Prophet Mohammad (S.A.W) said during his final speech (His last Hajj)

" AND BEWARE OF TRANSGRESSING THE LIMITS SET IN THE MATTERS OF RELIGION, FOR ITS TRANSGRESSION OF THE PROPER BOUNDS OF RELIGION THAT BROUGHT DESTRUCTION OF MANY PEOPLE BEFORE YOU".

i suppose christians clebrate the birth of jesus on the 25th right?,
so ................................not that i am saying that its haram, cos i am not a qualified ustaz, but ranku ya dadde, there are many people suffering, many dont have to eat, many dont have to even lead a normal life and get thier children a proper education. So isnt it better to give sadaqa ? I am sure the Nobel Prophet must have prefered that.
ABILUNAH? SABILUNAH? AL-JIHAD! AL-JIHAD!

Sas

Salamu Alaikum

Thats right al Hamza its better to give sadaqah because atleast we know that the prophet had ordered us to give it even if its not in terms of money. The question is Did he asked us to perform Maulud for him?
As long as the answer remains NO! performing it in such a fashion in retartind our Iman. As someone mentioned The prophet also died on that day so are we celebrating his death also?
The point is we can show happiness to Allah without doing this. I'm sure people that go and stay all night long sometimes live their wives and Husbands instead of to stay with them as Sunnah.
The food used to be nice though! ;)
ny good thing I said is from Allah and any bad thing I said is from me...So I ask for Allah's forgiveness for my errors both conscious and unconscious ones...Ameen!!!

That means maulidi bashi da asali from either the prophet[ s.a.w.] or his companions, so we regard it as BID'A and i believe you know what BID'A means and it's status in islam.Instead prophet [S.A.W] use to fast when ever his birthday comes up.

Ma'assalam.

I must say I am terribly sorry for using the word monkey instead of money as my user name to respond to the issue at hand.
Wato, we fail to understand, dalilin dayasa anNawawi yasa hadisin niyya as first in his collection. That hadith is very crucial in solving our debate here. The truth is, if people celebrate Maulud with the sole purpose and intent of immortalizing the life of Muhamad(SAW), then there is nothing wrong with the maulud.
You will also agree with me that chanting hadisai da qurani da fiqh da sauransu is not at all bidi'a. What is bidi'a is the visitation of makabarta by Qadirriya rannar ........ namanta.
But maulud, the way it is being pracised now is a good thing and it is NOT a bidi'a per say.
If maulud is bidi'a, because the prophet did not instruct us to do so, then visiting Muhammad's grave in madina is also bidi'a saboda annabi bai je kabarinsaba.
This is my understanding and may Allah forgive me whether or not I have erred.

Assalamu alaikum,

Let us just go back to the history of the prophet[saw] and see how he celebrated his birthdays and apply the same that's all and the issue of visiting the grave of the prophet, that is HALAL,it makes some one ?closer to death, one will always put it at the back of his mind that one day he will also be in the grave. The prophet [saw] encourages it,there is even a reward for it.
