Guestbook & Feedback / Exceptionally wonderful!
« on: August 12, 2003, 11:16:32 AM »
I was highly flabbergasted and happy about your site in Kano which is in the heart of the north. What a development! Kano indeed is the heart and the live wire of the entire north, and there is no doubt about that at all, therefore. for Kano to take the lead in establishing its own website is the right step in the right direction.
Now with the unparallel achievement of Kano in trade and commercial activities, onliners that are not living in Kano will like to see these type of commerce activities liberally splashed on the web. You must try and expand your coverage by going for many more things that Kano is known with. Try and give us the whole Kano, "mai dala da goron dutse"

General Board / National ID card, down the drain??
« on: July 23, 2003, 10:30:01 PM »
The issue of the issuance of ID cards to all nigerians, was accorded undue prominence and attention, that it nearly marred the last general elections. So many well meaning nigerians objected to the timing of the exercise, just before the general elections. It was seen as a clever way arranged by the government to rig the forthcoming elections by way of turning figures to wrongly favour some parts of the country.

Now both the elections and the ID card exercise are over, and the governent has kept mum on the outcome of the ID card exercise, that people have started wagging tongues that the north has been finally vindicated of being by far the most populous region in the nation. Whatever the reason for the delay in making the figures public, government should better come out with some statements on the whole facts of the matter. Afterall it was billions of tax payers money that was expended on the exercise. The importance of citizens having their national cards always with them should not be under-estimated. Or was the exercise another white elephant project?

I recieved with lots of joy the invitation sent to me to attend the gathering of kanoonliners that is scheduled to take place at the British Council. Really we all are looking forward to this would be memorable occassion. My only hope is that the hausa film shakers and movers will also be there. In particular, mandawari and the film's playback (musicians) heroes. I wish it could be some carnival of some sort!

General Board / Kwankwaso and the Defence portfolio.
« on: July 23, 2003, 10:27:57 AM »
First of all I must hasten and congratulate the erudite and amiable ex Governor, especially for getting a new job after his defeat at the polls by Gov. Shekarau. I wish him the Almighty's protection and guidance. We expect nothing from him but success so as to buttress the point that the youth could shoulder even higher responsibilities. The Defence Ministry is considered to be one of the biggest, or may be even the biggest.
During the course of the last four years, the Ministry was headed by T.Y Danjuma who was accussed of luck luster performance, especially when he endorsed the transfer of some military equipments to a particular section of the country, to the detriment of the others. He was also accussed of masterminding the pre mature retirement of some officers from a particular part of the country, without any tangible reason for doing that, apart from to help others assume the top hierarchy of the army.
Kwankwaso must try to right the wrongs of the past, by ensuring that justice is not only done, but be seen to have been done. He must try to live above board by doing the right thing, and darmning the sychopants who might try to distract his attention. I believe he has the strong will and determination to shoulder that responsility with valour and dexterity. A little more prayers will do the tricks, In sha Allah.

General Board / IBB AND 2007:
« on: August 25, 2003, 09:57:33 PM »
I have been an ardent admirer of IBB for the simple reason that the man appears to be a real MAN. When i talk of men, i talk of them as those that can suck the tail of a live scorpion, and not as the weakling yellow freaks in terms of those embracing women. I believe truly that IBB has been the most hated, dehumanized and disgraced leader by the press(s/w) we have ever had. The guy caurageously withstood all those attacks on his person, undaunted and resolute in his belief, till date. I may be wrong, but I think people like IBB should stay clear of the dirty game, politics. The ertswhile Buhari was lured into it, and terribly crashed, or "made" to crash at the polls. I believe that politics in this country is fast becoming a game of deciet, cheating, arm twisting and even elimination. IBB should spare us the agony of another northern gentleman being "crashed" in 2007. ???

It came as a crass rude and agonizing news that the nnpc md spent 240m on hotel accommodation alone. This is very disappointing if one takes into account the suffering of the Nigerian masses. With little or almost zero basic amenities to enjoy, one misguided, and perhaps haughty and arrogant citizen is squandering tax payers' money crudely and mercilessly. The corrupt practices tribunal has been exposed to what truly it represents, a hoax and a slap on the intelligence of Nigerians who are being taken for granted in some confused, warped and misguided policy of tranparency.
It is a big shame, not only to nigeria and nigerians, but to all pledging global democracies. :o
