So many stories and histories were narrated on
different form of crushes and crushes.  I was
reading a poem book in hausa "DAN HAUSA"
writting by Mahmoon Baba-Ahmed, a popular
hausa writer and came across this poem which
translates what crush really meant, and here I
share it with my fellow forumites:

SOYAYYAR KURUCIYA (CHILDHOOD CRUSH)

Malam Mahmoon in a stylish presentation took a chronological
order to his story which starts all the way from childhood,
narrating with nostalgia how they both end the day at the
play ground with the one he so much cherished.

Abruptly, Mahmoon brought a life picture, describing how
matured his queen had become over the years, with so many
lovers parading for her.  However, the writer tried to deliver
a message to his readers  on the reasons he thinks he cant
continue with the 'love story' where he narrated that he is
afraid of her other lovers, who are far above him in riches
while he is a damn church rat.  At last, he accepted defeat
as he can not fight back, but instead, he rekindles his love
life by marrying another "madadinki" in lieu of her.

Malam was trying to divert his attention from his former lover
as he narrated how he was happy when his son graduated,
how his daughter got married and in fact he begat a grand
daughter who has been his source of happiness all these years.

At last, he still loves his former girlfriend, "An ce soyayyar
kuruciya bata karko" childhood friendship never stays long
it so happens because that is the first step you take into
the affairs.  He still claims he loves her, he wont dislike or
hate her just because she didnt marry him, that is the will
of Allah.

So many people have similar experience in life, they never
marry their first lovers, and not because they dont love each
other.

Kai Dan Borno, the poem  is so beautiful! It makes me want to cry... :'( :'( Thanks for sharing it. It truly conjures up what life is all about. Allah dai Ya hada kowa a aljanna, da masoyin/masoyiyar da bai samu ba  a duniya. Ameen.

I think most crushes are of a serious nature, since it occupies the mind for days on end. Childhood crushes are easier to handle because they are a thing of the past and sometimes we just laugh them off as silly behavior, especially when we still see those ppl we had crushes on and we wondered how on earth we ever did so in the first place.

Recent crushes? They are more uncomfortable to discuss. Sometimes when u have a thing for someone, the last thing u want is for anyone to find out. You want to keep it to urself, otherwise if u are found out two things are involved (IBB take note) ;D. U are either ridiculed by yr mates/ friends, or even the person whom u have the crush on, or if the person u have the crush on reciprocates, the tender feelings just evaporate!! Dama the tender emotions are being fed on the feeling of u cant have what u want. Once u can have it, then u dont want it...lol!!

Ah, as I almost do? My novel is based on something that happened to me but you know how writers are, though am not yet a writer, there are lots of changes; characters, setting, plot, conflict etc are deployed and that changes how it is in real world.
Get to know [and remember] Allah in prosperity & He will know  [and remember] you in adversity.

I object to violence because when it appears to do good, the good is only temporary; the evil it does is permanent.
