Summary of konline get together

Here is a little summary of what happened at the kanoonline get together held at the British council on the 14th of August 2004.

The event started around 4pm even though most of the guests arrived much earlier.
After the Usual opening prayer by Ahmed A.K.A Dfynest,Dr Yusuf Adamu delivered the welcome address.
Prof in his most humourous way then introduced the Admin (who 4 some reason or the other refused to seat at the "high table') and the members of the high table who were Ibrahim Ado Kurawa,Prof.Abdalla Uba Adamu,Dr suleiman Kumo and the webmaster Dr Yusuf Adamu.

Then came the much awaited moment.It was time for the guests to introduce themselves stating their names and screennames.
The members introduced themselves;dfynest,emtl,mudacriss,yakasai,salisu,shiekh,sufyand,Ajingi,waziri,jibo nura and a lot of guests that didnt have screen names such as the Student union govt president of A.B.U.
After the introduction,the special guest in the person of Dr Suleiman Kumo delivered a lecture on a need for a soveriegn national conference.
After the lecture,a question and answer/discussion forum was held.During this session the guests were treated with a sumptous(mouth watery) array of traditional Hausa Pastries and sweets such as alkaki,gireba etc................yumm
During this discussion session an observation was made on the difference btw 'Almajiranchi and bara'.Ibrahim Ado even gave a brief lecture on the difference btw the two.
After the brief lecture by Ibrahim Ado,discussions were held on how to help sustain Kanoonline.Many contributions were made here and the idea of creating a computer users group was introduced.Members who wanted to join the group wrote down their names.

The closing prayer was then delivered by Ibrahim Ado Kurawa and the event came to an end.

This is briefly what happened at the konline get together.
Honestly if u didnt attend then you've missed a lot :( ..........ooh i even forgot,the event was captured on video by one of the cinematograhers of mission impossible 3(yes the famous MI3) :shock:  :shock: ......they are shootin part of the movie in Ghana....(kun yi miss wallahi)........

Let me start first by introducing or re-introducing myself as Dan-Sokoto just to congratulate the admin in particular and all other kano-onliners for a sustained good job.

Though, i have been off the kanoonline radar screen for over a year, i have always managed to glance from time to time; and the good work has always been gratifying.

Well occassion was fairly attended and let me guess why some members couldnt make it, here we go:

1. Dan- kauye - Am not sure but could be His Limosine had starting problems
2. Indabawa    - may be Nura jibo ya razana shi...
3. Dan-banza  - May he didnt want to distract the attention of the  particpants
4. Maqari        - may be Waziri forgot to deliver his IV on time
5. Zarumi       -
6. Ibro2G       - May be he has Tests and practicals same day
7. Guduma     - EMTL forgot to remind him
8. Baruti        - USA is too far away
9. Kanalacious - may be busy arresting cultist at Okija shrine
10. Dante       - May be end of seesions Exams
11. Eskimo     - His base (Eskimo) too far from Kano
12. Hausanacious- May be was Busy attanding party meeting inview of his 2007 ambition
13. Figorms - was busy with his thesis, perhaps.
14. IBB - Perhaps too engrossed in his 2007 project
15. Sheikh - sent a representative?
16. Dave - Might have had problem geeting a Nigerian visa on time, ko?
17. Khairuldeen - May have 5 reasons why he couldnt show-up

Nura Jibo, being the mafia manager, should please tell us more....

THE FACT REMAINS THAT THOSE WHO ATTENDED WERE ONLY ABLE BECAUSE ALLAH (SWT) HAS DESTINED THEM TO BE THERE.

Alhamdulillah,one has to admit that nigeria really has a good future inshaallah.
Most of the members that attended the get together were youths,including the founders of the site and the brainstorming sessions held during the get together no doubt reflect on the keen interest by the youth on moving our great country forward............May the almighty continue to guide our youth(and elders also)....Ameen.

Emtl i'd like to remind you that shiekh attended the get together.ka manta da ya dinga santi lokacin da yake cin gireba.
Dan kauye kuma wannan lokacin shine ya je museum thinking the event was goin to hold there.....poor him.........he didnt get to see the mi3 photographer kuma ba zai taba ganin shi a kauyen su ba.....Allah sarkiiiiiiii

thanx for ur brief and precise summary.i was unable to make it due  to some reasons.i arranged to be there wit ibro2gee but we couldn't make it.

i surelymissed the alkaki dat gogannaka is talking about but insha allah i will not miss next year's get together.Ummita that is always disturbing people dis....dat could not even appear once.

        may allah keep us together till the day of visitin graves.

It's alright, since Gogannaka has gave out the scenario of what happened at "Ta Dabo ci gari", mine is just an addition to his.

Well,Dr. Sulaiman Kumo, an erudite lawyer and politician of high repute graced the occasion by dealing with the burning issue of "THE NATIONAL QUESTION".He talked exhaustively on the idea behind the Sovereign National Conference (SNC).

Kumo outlined the major reasons why we must be prepared;since it appears,the SNC is inevitable.And his reasons were:

-"to reorganise Nigeria on how to work well because it's now clear that the country is a failed one, which cannot guarantee the safety of its dwellers".And presently " the Talakawa's are not favored by the law,orderand security of the existing government.
-"The subsidy they(Talakawa's) receive from the government e.g fertiliser, is deliberately phased out of the system"etc.

That's the tit bit on the political scene of the gathering.

But from the social angle,the purpose of the annual get-together was explained by Prof. Abdalla Uba Adamu, the man who had unforgetfully recalled Hafsy_Lady's comment;a lady that questioned the essence of the get- together.

Hear him:

"The main reasons of our coming together is to:
-articulate our common stand.
-it is also an opportunity to put our thoughts together.
-the togetherness "is to significantly provide us with the opportunity to know more about our environments, especially Kano". And to cap it all it is just " a cultural meeting point for the people within and even outside etc.

But the irony here is that: where was Hafsy_Lady on that day, was she far away from Kano or was she just hiding in one corner;shying away from her 'poser'?(laughs).
Substantially, the Honorable Engineer M. Tukur Lawal(a.k.a EMTL) buttressed all the points that Prof. Abdalla made on Hafsy's question. EMTL during one of his trips to the U.K was able visit another onliner with the screen name that we always see as "Bagumel".EMTL said, and I quote " I had a very nice moment with Bagumel,it was really an interesting moment". What an international encounter!!!! Or may I say K-online beyond Kanawas(laughs).

However, other sundry matters;vis-a-vis observations, comments, questions and contributions were raised by eminent personalities present.

-Gogannaka asked Dr. Kumo about the issue of leadership.I.e, if we're to go for SNC, Sir, how do we go about the issue of leadership, particularly in the north?
-Dfy_nest also querried thus: "If  we divide along the SNC basis, how are we going to do with resource control, can't the south use that and influence the government. Because the southerners' grievances are on natural resources, and since the FGN is in full control of all the resources..."

Uhhmm, that's Dfy_nest for u. Hope u know where he was heading to. If u don't know, pls do b4 you hear how he was answered by Dr. Kumo.

Nonetheless,from the ladies(?) side, a person whose name(?) and who appeared in sky blue elegant dress, was curious about why the webmaster named the forum Kanoonline.Ni dai babu ruwa na 'How she was answered isn't my bussiness'.

On the issue of the "picture planorama", I think the British cinematographer captured the scene well, in accordance with Prof's instruction. But webmaster(Salisu Danyaro) can bail me out of this anyday, anytime but I advice that he shud take his time because there is no hurry in life.
