Assalaam Kanoonliners!

I was just curious to find out how do kanonliners find the going-ons at the political reform conference. Any hope? From the little i am able to gather from my current remote part of the world, there is a lot of shouting and booeing of retired military members when they make contributions for example. I really find this to be disgusting and merely an act of emotional outburst. Is the conference not supposed to be a forum where careful thought and attention is given to each contribution or contributor?

Any way let me reserve my full comments on the conference till i gauge the mood of members. Over to u folks.

This is Dan-Sokoto signing in after a long sojourn.

gogannaka

It more more of a childplay.
Some fume some clap while some doze off.

Bottomline is:
1.They will try to remove the immunity given to public office holders.
2.They will unanimously agree that Nigeria remains a united soveriegn entity.
3.They'll all agree that the presidential system of governance employed in Nigeria is best for Nigerians.

Other than these three points everything is hullaballoo.

The conference is on actually. The conferees always say they believe in the indivisibility of Nigeria but unfortunately always bring out issues that are capable of breaking up the country.

Kano state want section 1 of the constitution to be amended to give Shari'a Legal System supremacy or equal status with the constitution itself.  This is clearly contraditory to the claim that they do not want the polity to disintegrate.

Yoruba want a return to true federalism in a manner that will give them more advantage than any other group of people or region in Nigeria. An arrangement that is likely to keep producing a Yoruba president for life.  Yet with this agenda they keep saying they want the country to remain one

Also Niger-Delta people think they should always have their resources in their full control. They will only be giving government some 50% of it. But they have control of everything.    This alone can make it easy for them to go alone when ever they feel prepared enough to.

And so on and so on...

Left to me, the delegates only tell about how they passionately want the unity of Nigeria but they do not act it. But my prayer is for the disintegration of this country to happen at the least damage incurred. It is unfortunate.
