Dear His Majesty,

Passionate Pleading for the release of Dr. (Sheikh) Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gummi

On behalf of the painfully silent Muslims brothers and sisters in Nigeria and diaspora, I am writing formally and respectfully, requesting HM King Abdallah bin Abdulaziz, the Custodian of the two Holy Mosques, to mercifully intercede and order the immediate release of the castrated Sunni Muslims leader, Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gummi from wrongful detention by your security operatives in the Kingdom since February, 2010!

Your Highness! For the purpose of reminder on the personality of Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Gummi, I feel, a brief replay of his family background will serve as a quick reference.

The famous King Faisal Award winner and renown Islamic scholar of international repute, late Sheikh Abubakar Mahmud Gummi, the first and only translator of the Holy Qur'an in Hausa language, one of the founders of Al-Rabita Muslim League, the first Grand Khadi of Northern Nigeria and the Grand Mufti of Nigeria, was the biological father of this promising erudite Islamic scholar in the making by your Royal Kingdom since 1987; Dr. (Sheikh) Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gummi.

It was in his voracious quest of pure Islamic education and scholarship, that Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gummi, abandoned his dual enviable employment of medicine to take after the good work of his late father, Sheikh Abubakar Mahmud Gummi, in the dissemination of moderate Islamic education in Nigeria and beyond. Hence his enrolment in the Ummul-Qura University where he studied Bachelor of art degree in Shari'ah, Master degree in Islamic Jurisprudence and analogy and Doctorate degree in Usoolul-Fiqh.

Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gummi has, since five years now, sat on the most prestigious Scholarly Chair of the annual Ramadan Tafseer in Kaduna, northern Nigeria, a position his late father occupied for over 45 years! Ramadan is fast approaching; the Chair will be empty without his presence.

Your Majesty! The West African Sunni Muslims, have seen, the imbibed lofty manners and traits of the late Sheikh Abubakar Mahmud Gummi, in the young educated and refined Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gummi, temperance and natural resemblance apart.

No doubt, the Nigerian Muslims have great love and respect for the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the Nigerian successive governments have remained your dependable allies in every world diplomatic position Saudi Arabia government has taken, in past and present.

Despite the pain and agony the multitude of followers of young Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gummi across the West African Sub-Sahara as a result his continued incarceration by the Saudi Security operatives, they have preferred to take the path of peace in resolving this matter in line with his teaching and the legacy of his late father, Sheikh Abubakar Mahmud Gummi. In addition, they have also chosen to endure the misery and anguish silently, by closing their eyes and sealing their ears, the ongoing celebrations and jubilations of the Sufis and Shi'ites followers, subsequent the detention of the Sunni leader by the leading Sunni Kingdom, the Saudi Arabia. The whole episode looks awkward and embarrassing.

Apart from that, Your Majesty, his family of two wives and 17  children, all born in Makkah during his studies, are languishing and emancipating in hunger, deprivation, sickness due to the absence and continued confinement of their father and bread winner; Dr. (Sheikh) Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gummi.

Finally, Your Majesty! On behalf the silent Muslims of this part of the world, I am pleading to Your Majesty, to please, in the name of compassion and benevolence, and in the spirit of your good leadership, to release Dr. Ahmad Abubakar Mahmud Gummi from his detention, and to mutually reconcile amicably, so that the good work of advancing the cause of Allah will prevail.

While we reiterate our unflinching adoration and respect for the Kingdom, we wish His Majesty, King Abdallah bin Abdulaziz, good health, Allah's guidance and long life.

Allah says in Surah Ali Imaran 133-134:

" Be quick In the race for forgiveness from your Lord, and for a Garden whose width is that (of the whole) of the heavens and of the earth, prepared for the righteous,-
Those who spend (freely), whether In prosperity, or In adversity; who restrain anger, and pardon (all) men;- for Allah loves those who do good "

Yours Sincerely Respectful,
