I think the whole of humanity has a lot to gain from it especially in the quest for finding cures to the many ailments that afflict the human being and even other living things.

Scientists are of the opinion that genetics have an influence on ones' disposition but they have not discounted the fact that the environment one finds himself in also has a great, if not an even greater influence on ones' personality traits.

It is always true of everything in life that there is a good side and a bad side. The fear everyone has is that the knowledge gained from genetic mapping will be abused by some in for example, creating ''designer babies''. Creating babies that suit a particular taste. Making the baby to be light skinned, or to to have the genetic code that will ensure the baby grows to be 6ft, or to be smart... etc.

It is something the world will have to find ways to come to terms with. But personally, I think finding ways to cure people, maybe finding cures for cancer and the like, will be the biggest benefit mankind will derive from this genetic mapping thing.

I am very curious bout the subject matter though being too suspicious bout the "environmentalist" who claim most on behalf of the environment.
