The white paper that was delibrated and adopted by the Kano state Government on Justice A T Badamasi's probe panel, has indicted former Governor Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso for corruption. The former governor has been ordered to refund almost a billion naira to the coffers of the state government.Likewise, the government was also advised to drag the former governor to the fearful and no nonsense EFCC.

However,Kwankwaso rather belatedly, rushed to a Kano high court, seeking for an injuntion to restrain the Shekarau administration from implementing the recommendations of the white paper.

Opinions are now divided on wether the former governor should be allowed to face the much dreaded EFCC.While some observers are of the opinion that it is "nemesis" that is finally catching up with the former "tyrant" for "arrogantly" stepping on so many toes, while he was a governor;some analysts however, are of the opinion that Shekarau should forget about the additional humiliation of the water engineer.

The issue now is that should these probe findings be allowed to fizzle out just like those that came before them,or should the Shekarau government go the whole hog, there by setting pecedence that public office holders should henceforth be conscious of their actions while in office?

I get a feeling that the thing is going through normal courts why not arrign him in a sharia court? does the time the alleged crimes took place and the time sharia was adopted have anything to do with it?  All I am just hoping is that masses are not allowed to face the sharia courts while the big shots are able to or allowed to face the conventional courts.

For Kwankwaso well if he is guilty or their is evidence of his guilt please let justice be allowed to take its course

Before I say anything, my answer to this topic is BY ALL MEANS YES.

As with all legal cases, the presumption of innocence before proven guilty should be observed. This means, until Kwankwaso is found to have done what he is indicted for, he remains a free gentleman. Having said that, it is not out of place what he was accused of.

If anything, the arraignment, or rather the fililng of corruption charges against Dariye- a fellow PDP govnor, shows what this people are capable of. Babu adalci a cikin zukatansu.

Some of the charges against the finance comissioner involve the misapproriation, or not putting it lightly- the outright diversion,  of funds meant for student scholarship and feeding allowances! I mean how much evil can one be. I guess they could divert monies meant for drug purchases as well. What will stop them  I ask?

I think what makes the Kano review panel credible and unique is that it has taken its time to do justice to both the govt of the day and the people indicted. Unlike many other states where panels where enpanelled to review cases of graft and mismangement, the kano govt has shown rhetoric in action by forwarding the recommendations of the panel to the EFCC for further action and possible prosecution. Most other states were witch hunting their political opponents.

I wish all well particularly kwankwaso and his retinue of comissioners indicted. But if indeed he is responsible for what he is accused of, then no amount of well wishing or marabout session can take off the guilt and stigma of violating a sacred trust Allah placed on him to pilot the affairs of our dear state.

Allah shi taimakemu baki daya............. ameen.

PS: mallamt that is a good one. you should know better that Kwankwaso was hell bent on seeing the shariah implementation doesn't suceeed because that will diminish his standing, being a lay muslim. He will not, mark my words, appear before a Khadi anytime soon. The people who want shariah the most are those who have nothing to hide. Kwankwaso does!

That was an excellent suggestion mallamt and myadudu.I also think that it would be great and far reaching for the sharia project to address the issue of Kwankwaso & Co.

Moreover, it would debunk the errenous belief that sharia is only for the poor. And it would also allow Kwankwaso to have a "first hand" experiance of the system he had disdained most while in office.

For in the sharia, lies an absolute justice and fairness.

MR. Indabawa, I think Shekarau should set a precedent on Kwankwaso so that other governors can learn a lesson out of it. But if he allows him to go scot free then there is no need of exposing him...
o try and fail is atleast to learn. That will save one the inestimable loss of what might have been (positive or negative).

Very nice disscussion, but i viewed this as....what is good for the goose......is also be good for the gender. the utterences of kwankwaso and his inimical attitude against former  kano military administarator  kontagora, and the investigation panel against ADHAMA are clear that his lead government ie (kwankwaso)was not serious.why you investigate others and refuse youself to scrutny.....clearly there was skeleton in his cupboard. BADAMASI NAIL MORE ON HIS HEAD, COS' HE HAD NOTHIN TO SHOW CASE.
