The most superior way of asking for forgiveness from Allah

English translation: 0 Allah! You are my Cherisher. There is no deity except
You. You have created me and I am Your servant and as far as possible, I
abide by my solemn promise and covenant (which I made to You). I seek Your
protection against the consequences of my wrongdoings. I fully acknowledge
the grace You have bestowed upon me and I confess my faults. So pardon me my
sins as none besides You can pardon sins.

Hadith

On the authority of Shaddad ibn Aws, may Allah be pleased with him, the
Prophet, Sallallahu Alayhi Wa Aalihi Wa Sallam said, "The most superior way
of asking for forgiveness from Allah is:

"Allahumma anta Rabbi la ilaha illa, anta khalaqtani wa ana abduka, wa ana
'ala ahdika wa wa'dika mastata'tu, A'udhu bika min Sharri ma sana'tu, abu'u
Laka bini'matika 'alaiya, wa Abu'u bidhanbi faghfirli innahu la yaghfiru
adhdhunuba illa anta."

The Prophet (s.a.w.) added. "If somebody recites it during the day with firm
faith in it, and dies on the same day before the evening, he will be from
the people of Paradise; and if somebody recites it at night with firm faith
in it, and dies before the morning, he will be from the people of Paradise."

Bukhari,Volume 8, Book 75, Number 318.

Benefit: According to the Hadeeth anyone who recites Sayyidul lstaghfaar
with conviction and devotion once during the day or night, (specially after
fajr and maghrib prayers) and if he happens to die on that day or night
Insha-Allah he will surely enter Jannah.
It is for this reason that it has been named Sayyidul Istaghfaar meaning The
Chief Form of Repentance.

How perfect You are O Allah, and I praise You. I bear witness that none has
the right to be worshipped except You. I seek Your forgiveness and turn to
You in repentance.

'Our Lord, give us good in this world, and good in the hereafter, and
safeguard us from the punishment of the Fire.'

O Allah! Let Your Blessings come upon Muhammad (s.a.w.) and the family of
Muhammad(s.a. w.) as You Blessed Ibrahim (a.s.) and the family of Ibrahim (
a.s.). Verily You are the Praiseworthy Glorious.

O Allah! Confer Your Blessings on Muhammad (s.a.w.) and the family of
Muhammad (s.a.w.) as You conferred blessings on Ibrahim (a.s.) and the
family of Ibrahim (a.s.). Verily You are the Praiseworthy, Glorious.
