I've had just read it that a new Emir was appointed. Here is the story (DailyTurst Online Edition);

Muhammad Abali is new Fika emir
Written by Hamza Idris, Potiskum
Tuesday, 17 March 2009

Alhaji Muhammadu Abali Ibn Muhammadu IdrissaAlhaji Muhammadu Abali Ibn Muhammadu Idrissa, the eldest son of late emir of Fika Alhaji Abali Muhammadu Idrissa yesterday succeeded his father as the 13th emir of Fika following the approval of his appointment by Governor Ibrahim Geidam.

Hundreds of spectators including members of the royal family gathered at the Emir of Fika's palace in Potiskum as the Deputy Governor of Yobe State Alhaji Abubakar D. Ali presented the letter of appointment to the new emir which many people see as "well deserved".

The five kingmakers headed by the  Madakin Fika Malam Adamu Ciroma forwarded three names to Governor Ibrahim Geidam from which he chose the new emir.

The new emir was born in Potiskum on 14th August, 1956. He attended Kaduna Capital School from 1963 to 1969, Barewa College, Zaria 1970 to 1974, Land Dowel Tutors College, UK from 1975 to 1977 where he did his A-level studies, and North Staffordshire Polytechnic, England from 1977 to 1980 where he bagged a Bachelor's degree in modern studies with specialization in International relations.

Alhaji Muhammad Abali obtained a Masters degree in politics and international relations from the City University of London in 1983.

The new emir started working with the former Owena Bank in 1984 and moved to the then National Security Organization (NSO), the precursor of the SSS and rose to the rank of senior security and intelligence officer at the National Headquarters in Lagos, where he served in various departments and held many administrative and operational positions especially in the operations and counter espionage units..

In June 1991, he voluntarily resigned from the state security service and set up a security consultancy firm called AKIS Services which engages in security consulting and supply of equipment and other security related services.

In December 1998, the new emir was appointed the chief security officer of the Nigeria Railway Corporation and moved to Total-Elf in 2007 as the security coordinator at the Abuja office.

Professional courses attended by the new emir between 1884 and 2004 included a basic course at the Citizenship and Leadership Training Centre Sea School, Advanced Surveillance Course, Interrogation Officers courses, psychological operations and intermodal management course.

He was conferred with the title of Yeriman Fika in 2002 and turbaned the district head of Potiskum by his late father on 28th February, 2009. He is married and has many children

Our correspondent reports that children and grand children of the late Alhaji Muhammad Idrissa, the father of the just departed emir, competed for the throne.

Late Muhammad Idrissa who died in 1976 left behind many children including the immediate past emir, Maina Abali. Alhaji Muhammadu Abali, who emerged the new emir, was appointed district head of Potiskum just a week before the demise of his father and many people interviewed around the palace saw his elevation as "a sign of good tidings".

Secretary of the emirate council Alhaji Mohammed Maina Waziri said the new emir would be turbaned "within the next seven days".

A statement signed by Abdullahi Bego, the press secretary to governor Geidam said the new emir was selected and appointed out of the three names presented to government by the king makers of Fika emirate council after a vacuum was created when Alhaji Abali Ibn Muhammadu who was the chairman of the Yobe State Council of Chiefs died on Monday, 9th March, 2009. In his acceptance speech, the new emir promised to foster unity and cooperation among the "divergent people" of the emirate even though he acknowledged that there are a lot of challenges ahead.

According to him, "we would reach out to build bridges because there is a lot of mending to do...in the last few years, there are problems due to political and other differences which caused disharmony among the people. Insha Allah, with the cooperation of my brothers and the community in general, we would achieve our objectives".

Muhammed Bukar Abubakar, one of the kingm-akers, thanked Governor Geidam for choosing Muha-mmadu Abali to succeed their father. "The whole credit goes to Geidam because there is no rancour and no complains. Our prayer is that the new emir would assume the role of father to all including those outside the emirate," he said.
