Sallamma gareku
I was just browsing the net the other day when i stumbled upon a very heartening news item. The government of Kano state, led by the able mallam Ibrahim Shekarau has taken it upon itself to feed almajirai and other needy folks during this glorious month of ramadhan.
The state, Kano, voted for N54m to undertake this gesture. unllike other governments, whereby promises are no more than public pronouncements, the implementation committee swung into action in no time.
What really makes this more encouraging is the fact that the Zakkah commision (in charge of distributing the iftar meals) is headed by Prof Sani Zahradeen , a person known for his honesty and accountability.
already, there are reports that schools where serving 'shayi da madara' is more like a mythology than reality are feeling the revolutionary  impact of a responsible government.
All we can say is, MORE GREASE TO THIER ELBOWS.
PS: It will be wrong to assume, and i hope no one did assume that, it is solely the governments responssibilty to be charitable during ramadan. Indeed, all of us should be.
Take a minute and ask yourself whether you indeed 'are'.
To jama'a a kwana lafiya.
