 Question:

Did the Prophet (peace be upon him) distribute foods, drinks and sweets after the entire recitation of the Holy Qur'an in Ramadan? Was such act performed by any of his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), their followers or the good ancestors?

If such act has been performed during the previous good era, is it legally permissible especially that its doer believes that such foods, drinks and sweets are a blessing?
  Answer :

As far as we know, neither the Prophet (peace be upon him), his Companions (may Allah be pleased with them), their followers nor the good ancestors distributed foods, drinks and sweets after the entire recitation of the Holy Qur'an in Ramadan. It is an innovation in religion, because it has been done after a certain act of worship and it has been at a certain time. Each innovation in religion is a deviation because it entails accusing the Islamic law that it is imperfect and incomplete while Allah said: This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islâm as your religion. (5:3) Al-'Irbad bin Sariah (may Allah be pleased with him) reported: The Prophet (peace be upon him) delivered an eloquent sermon, which greatly moved us, sent a wave of fear into our hearts and our eyes shed tears. We said to him: This sermon appears like the last advice, then tell us something more as an advice. He said: I advise you to fear Allah (because of your obligations to Allah) and to hear and obey even a slave who may be put in authority over you. Those of you who survive me will notice a lot of differences. It will be incumbent upon you to follow my Sunnah (tradition) and the practices of my rightly guided successors (Caliphs) and hold fast with these precepts and traditions and beware of innovations and inventions in religion, because every innovation leads to the wrong path .

It has been reported that Malik bin Anas (may Allah have mercy on him) said: If a person makes an innovation in religion, he thus believes that the Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) was dishonest in conveying the Message of Allah Who said: This day, I have perfected your religion for you, completed My Favour upon you, and have chosen for you Islâm as your religion. (5:3) Legal rulings are stable and fixed and they could never be changed. Yet, if distributing such foods and drinks was made without sticking to this habit at a certain time, it is permissible.
