if any of ya'll have been questioned by people about the "wives" of the prophet... plz.. answer them with this...or sum'in of dee equivalent...*smile*

First of all, if the person is athiest... tell them to go and flush their heads in the toilet... (they have no right whutsoeva to question a person with a religion)
if the person is a Jew or Christian... tell them, polygamy is NOT a new thing.. and it was NOT Islam that introduced polygamy. A number of Prophets and important people in the Bible and Jewish Scriptures also had multiple wives... people everywhere were (and still are) practicing polygamy (legally and illegally).

Our Prophet's Character...As Muslims, we know the Prophet Muhammad (SAW) as a kind, calm, modest, righteous, and peaceful man. He was always known for his generosity, tolerance, truthfullness, and sincerity.  He had the reputation for chastity and integrity.
He was known as "Al-Ameen"... "The Trustworthy"... even his enemies could not deny that... none of his enemies ever accused him of misconduct, because they know no one will believe.

Concerning his wives...
He was married to Khadijah for 25 years (i read in another place 23yrs)... at that time, men married countless women, but he remained with his ONLY wife, a faithful man... and they had 6 kids. Happy marriage!!! (thatz for sure)
After Khadijah died (Allah Ya jikan Muslimai), he remained a single father for about 4-5 yrs, raising his children.
His other marriages began when he was 53yrs and above... and played an important role in Islam.

Out of ignorance and hatred, some people accuse him of  "lustfullness" (Allah Ka gafarce ni)...!
FALSE ACCUSATIONS... they have NO PROOF!
All the women he married were widows, except Aisha bint Abu Bakr. If he was lustful (ya Allah forgive meeh)... then i suppose he would've married all virgins...
Traditionally remarriage was difficult for widows, and the Prophet (SAW) made sure that such practice was thrown out.. to prevent widows from engaging in immoral acts and to protect them, because they have every right to be married and cared for. (the wars left women widowed)
Plus he was 53 and above... a beg, whish kine lust?

All his wives remained childless...except for Maria (his Coptic Wife). Maria gave birth to a son, but the child died while he was a baby.
Apart from that...the Prophet did not have any more children, showing that his marriages were more of a sociopolitical nature, than lust. (Allah, perd?neme)

HIS MARRIAGES WERE FOR SPECIFIC REASONS...
~He is an EXCELLENT role model for Muslim families. He treated his wives with respect and love, thus setting an example.  He treated them like human beings, eg. he consulted them about issues. Even though he had the "Divine Source", he never felt too little to consult his wives and discuss matters with them.
it's a pity some men fail to follow in his footsteps, Allah ya sa mu dache...(amin)
~Each wife was from a different tribe/clan (even enemy clans/tribes)... by marrying them, he kinda integrated the tribes and clans in one, and unified the region...
Also an example, not to be tribalistic and racist... we're all Muslims, and one to Allah!
~His wives also set examples as the ideal Muslim Woman... they conveyed and interpreted Islam to their people (even after his death)...
~His marriages established kinship throughout Arabia... and he was accepted as a family member where ever he went.
~All his wives (except Aishah) were widows, and in desperate need of protection and guidance...(leaving them as widows will force them into prostitution and other immoral acts)

His marriages were acts of self-discipline and another burden he had to bear in order to guide us to the Right Path...

The Revelation that restricted polygamy came after all his marriage contracts... after that.. he was also forbidden to marry again....
so polygamy was RESTRICTED by Islam, reduced to four wives (great progress for women after centuries of unlimted polygamy)!
Polygamy is permitted, but NOT commanded....

His wives.. gladly married him (no one was forced).. because of the person he is, the perfect Husband.. and to his children, the perfect Father!.. There has NEVER been any history of violence or mistreatment...
So whut is buggin' these people with all their pathetic questions... makes u wonder...

"As such people usually know next to nothing about Islam, their question is based either on genuine ignorance or the desire to spread doubt among believers." ~ M. Fethullah Gulen.

mhm... meeh na so i dey pray i go commot dis world a Muslimah...! can i get an AMEN?!

Thanks u for this contribution FyneDymeQueen, keep it up. I will add this piece, is a sermon of Imam ALi concernign the Holy Prohet (s) because he knows him better than anyone in the world. He said:

Allah sent the Prophet when the mission of other Prophets had stopped and the peoples were in slumber for a long time. Evils were raising heads, all matters were under disruption and in flames of wars, while the world was devoid of brightness, and full of open deceitfulness. Its leaves had turned yellow and there was absence of hope about its fruits. While water had gone underground. The minarets of guidance had disappeared and signs of destruction had appeared. It was stern to its people and frowned in the face of its seeker. Its fruit was vice and its food was carcass. Its inner dress was fear and outer cover was sword.

So take lesson, O' creatures of Allah, and recall that (evil doing) with which your fathers and brothers are entangled, and for which they have to account. By my life, your time is not much behind theirs, nor have long periods or centuries lapsed between you and them, nor are you much distant from when you were in their loins.

By Allah, whatever the Prophet told them, I am here telling you the same and whatever you hear today is not different from what they heard yesterday. The eyes that were opened for them and the hearts that were made for them at that time, just the same have been given to you at this time. By Allah, you have not been told anything that they did not know and you have not been given anything which they were deprived. Certainly you have been afflicted by a calamity (which is like a she-camel) whose nose-string is moving about and whose strap is loose So in whatever condition these deceitful people are should not deceive you, because it is just a long shadow whose term is fixed.
