Question:

I would like to create an icon on the desktop for a few of the programs I use most often. How can I do this?

Answer:
You can create a shortcut to the program. Shortcuts are pointers to programs and files on your computer. They have a little arrow in the lower left hand corner of the icon (called a jump arrow). A shortcut can be placed anywhere on your system. The most common places to place shortcuts are on the desktop.

The easiest way to create a shortcut to a program is as follows:

Open the Start menu, click on Programs and locate the program you want.
Point to the program with the mouse pointer and press and hold the right mouse button.
Drag the mouse to a blank spot on the desktop.
A menu will open; click Copy Here.
You will now have an icon on your desktop for that program.

If you would like to change the name of the icon, right click on it and then left click Rename. Type in the new name and press the Enter key.
