Salam guys.
For those not acquainted with recent happenings, the Arewa Consultative Forum (ACF)- a non partisan, non political body??, elected  its new leaders.
No doubt the new leadership, headed by Sunday Awoniyi is a welcome change but what really motivated me to write is this.
For the almost 4 years ACF's been in existence, it has managed to achieve NOTHING. Not because there isnt commitment from the very honorable people bolstering its rank, but because, as Adamu Adamu puts it, the behaviour of some partisan people making ACF's decisions.
The promise to establish an FM station, newspaper and other noble objectives have all but been forgotten. and if care is not taken, the next four years will bring the same.
The main problem with ACF in my opinion is its composition. So far as the IBB's men and Atiku's men continue to infiltrate and decide what ought to be done, then we should be rest assured that nothing will be achieved.
The next item on their agenda should be:
1) establishing a private university in the next 2 yrs
2) constructing a larger refinery @ kaduna in the next 2 yrs
3)lobbying the govt to : (a)dredge the Niger River (b) construct the mambilla hydroelectric dam (c) complete the Warri-kaduna gas pipeline.
In a nutshell, what is your opinion on what will make the ACF work? Is the ACF really important? Please discuss.

ok, it's true lots of work needs to be done. Is the acf relevant, probably not. You know what they say, "if it is broken then leave it alone."

Salaam,
The ACF is a useless and totally non important body....Its a shame the ACF since found has acheived nothing except for the headline its leaders make on the national dailies.....The former leaders's(M.D Yusuf) involvement in partisan politics during the last election was a serious blow to the face of the organisation.
Also the leaders of the ACF dont have the interest of the North at heart.Everyone of them is defending his interest.back then when they had the realms of power what did they do to the North?they stashed away the nations resourses.Kuma wai yanzu a ce wai su ne za su kare wa Arewa yanci...hmn we better think again.....These are the same ppl that will wine and dine with every government in power and when they talk on the media they'll talk as if they have the interest of the north at heart....Ni dai kam i've lost hope in the ACF....and something i've realised is that this nation will not develop so long as we keep seeing these northern elders as our saviours......

About the Items you listed Amin, its laughable.lol lol.....How cud they be acheived? In the past 4 yrs as u said nothing has been achieved yet u r hoping that these 'elephant projects' can be achieved in two yrs?Remember this is nija(the country where nothing works the way it is supposed to).

Nonetheless the election of Sunday Awoniyi as the chairman of the ACF has cast a ray of hope for the organisation

In a nutshell it's as samba said "if it is broken then leave it alone"
Surely after suffering comes enjoyment

Amin great post, but unfortunately I agree with gogannaka. Cows will fly first b4 the ACF in its present makeup will accomplish those feats.

so far, iam getting replies as i expected and that is normal. but still, i maintain, 'the items on the agenda' i wrote are too important to be left undone.
goganaka, yeah its funny ACF could'nt do anything previously but that is not to say they cannot do anything in the future.
let's wish for the best for the whole nation in the coming years!
