Allah ya kyauta.

I went to register at Nyanya in Abuja around my house and was given a serial number 287 and ther was actually more than 300 people on the queue and by the time the Inec people reach number 37 the form has finished. We were therefore asked to come back tomorrow. Are we sure that there will be free and fair election in Nigeria? I then proceed to another booth near my office as number 49 but by the time they registered about 20 people materials finished again and all these happened before 1:00 pm.

Anya kuwa an taki gaskiya a wannan harkar?  To Allah ya Kyauta.

Please share your experiences here. :'( :'( :'( :'(

Kai! ai dai abin ba'a chewa komai,
Allah dai kawai yasan gaskiyar wannan harkar. To, amma, i think within the circles of INEC staffs are trying to sabotage, having in mind all the efforts made by the Government in order to see a fair play and co's succes on this excercise. Individual staffs on INEC payroll are to be blame.

Salaam,

I think the problem stems around the incumbent administration. Some people some where do not want to lose power. But they are right as Mario Puzo would say: "Power isn't everything but the only thing". While they continue to be right I pray we will all learn to learn the thing and learn to steretegise.

u guys had been to the registration booths. some of us had a premonition of what was coming and stayed away and watched from the fringes. I guess that is voluntary disenfranchisement. question is those that got franchised are they in any way going to determine the outcome of the exercise of their franchise.

The King,
Welcome to Kano Online Forum.

I guess you can say; if you can't join them watch them from the fringes...

Hey Salis,

I guess they say refusing to vote is automatically voting for the winner... but here one is in a quandary where (forgive me for inverted plagiarism) exercising the right to vote appears to be automatically voting for the winner. It is a game of either way you loose. Question is how do you make the exercise of your franchise really count and have an impact?

The galling thing is that they are now saying that if you dont carry a registration card you are not entitled to (in some places) government services: then why do I bother to pay taxes. Taxes is a must then concomittantly, goverment services are a must, it is some sort of social covenant or contract. On the other hand I have a right to exercise my franchise either way i want: to vote for any candidate or even abstain. It does not mean that I am less a citizen only thing is I have not seen a candidate worthy enough to earn that vote so I am holding on to it.

Any way here is to every body: GOOD DAY

Assalamu alaikum.
well knowing fully well, how the Nigerian system works,i didn't bother myself to go and register, untill when lagos state govt, start making announcement that without voters card you will not benefit from the state, and by the way they are emphasising it seems even the molue or danfo will ask you for the card before taking you, some of our bosses in the office join the campaign and started demanding for the card,as i see pepper,i have to succumb and join the quee,to my surprise and disappointment after going to my center for two to thre days there is no card,at last one of the workers that's those that give the card called me and said i should give them three hundred naira ,and to my surprise i got the card there and then.the question is that is it for sale?m.t shira

Aminu Usman,
I have to say I have to agree with all that you've said.

Shira,
First of all I want take this opportunity to welcome you to Kano Online Forum.

Are you really serious about having to pay 300 Naira Extortion money to get a voter's registration card in Lagos? Notice I said extortion not bribery. There is a difference between Extortion - (Illegal use of one's official position or powers to obtain property, funds, or patronage) being forced to pay... and Bribery - (Something, such as money or a favor, offered or given to a person in a position of trust to influence that person's views or conduct) being an act of offering...
